i need a fabulous seamstress. i just took it to a local woman who was highly recommended by many and she said she was stumped. she suggested i take the dress to a designer or to a vintage alteration specialist. i have no idea where to start...any suggestions?

I hear Tony King is great, he has mixed reviews on his treatment of people though, so he is a bit blunt from what I can gather. He just says what he is thinking and I hear great things about his work.

I hear Pauline is also good. Those are the two I hear the most about online.

For difficult jobs, I recommend Kim Dao Alterations.  Don't be fooled by her DIY website that her son made for her because she is truly an expert among experts, imo.  She's taught alterations classes for professional seamstresses to troubleshoot difficult situations like yours.
