Outdoors in April???

Ok so...FI & I were attempting to plan for a JUne 2011 wedding, we have looked everywhere for a venue and finally found one that we both adored.  I love this place bc ( the price is RIGHT) and FI saw the pics and instantly began asking questions, it really caught his eye!! So today I set out to go view the place in person, I loved it! Perfect for what I had imagined! Then the front desk clerk ( we'll call him...Keith) asks me if we had a date in mind?? I said, " kind of , we are hoping for JUne but anytime while I am on summer break from school" he kind of laughed at me... lol I have done many internet searches and this place never appeared, finally a friend reccomended it which is how I heard of it and fell in love, bc I had never heard of it, I figured not many people got married there!!! LOL Boy was I wrong, they are booked all summer long, unless of course we want to get married on a Frid, or sunday...NOT! Not really our thing, Fridays are incovenient, and on a sunday , everyone would be leaving early to go to work in the morn, thats not a party, and thats what we want, a party!! Soooo I was so very depressed and came home to tell him about it.  ( we have been engaged for 5.5 years LOL and he was never in a big hurry to actually get married) So his response to what I thought was a disaster....Lets move it up!!!!!!! Are u serious? My guy wants to move UP the wedding date?? WOW Didnt really expect it but made me feel on top of this world! So now that I have rambled on FOREVER.....Is an outdoor wedding In early April a no no or is it a go? Need some advice!! Of course the reception would be held indoors and worse case we could move it inside but I would rather not...what do u think???

Congratulations on having your FI agree to move your day up!

An outdoor in early April may risk getting a bit chilly, as in, sweater weather.  April is when I start gardening because the frost is over.  But it shouldn't be too cold.  Like you said, you could move it inside.

April is definitely ify.  It really could go either way.  If it's the beginning of April, it's probably going to be pretty chilly.  We're getting married on April 2, 2011 and I wondered the same thing.  So I went through some pics taken during that exact weekend back in 2008 and there still weren't any leaves on the trees yet.  If you can have a tent, it could work out perfectly for you though!   GL

the date is April 9th and the reception hall is very cute and even has a focal point, ( fireplace) wouldnt need an arbor or trellis but I looked up the weather for that day in 2010 and 2009 and it was 76 and 64, not too bad, Id be ok with that and could put a card in the invite to make guests aware to dress appropriatly, ie jacket or something

For a small ceremony, I don't think it would be a problem, but there is a higher chance of rain here in April.

If you are having the reception indoors, go for it.  Just have a back up plan.

Being that it is Ohio it could be beautiful that weekend, rainy, chilly, and/or snow. Love Ohio. You may want to have a backup plan or a huge tent on hand.

    Congrats on finding the venue!

Our wedding was this past April 24th and the only two weekends that it rained in April were the first weekend and the last - which ended up being on our wedding day. We originally wanted to do an outside ceremony as well, but mother nature didn't agree with us, so we had to move it inside. April is just such an unpredictable month - the very same weekend in '09 was in the 70's and sunny - so go figure!

What we did was just planned on an outside ceremony w/ an inside reserve space just in case - then as the date approached we watched the weather and made a decision based on that. Luckily our venue allowed this last minute change b/c the chance of rain was like 60%.

Good luck and I hope you get a beautiful day!

We attended a mid-April at French House last year and it was stunning.  All their spring flowers were in full bloom - just breathtaking.  It was a tad nippy but the ceremony was fairly brief so it didn't get uncomfortable.  Go for it and best of luck!
