Cincinnati Club vs. Cincinnati Parks

I probably look like a crazy lady with all these venue questions, but I just keep flip flopping between a nice formal downtown wedding and a pretty garden wedding with mason jars full of wildflowers and menus written on chalkboards, etc.... so I need more help.

Today I went to the Cincinnati Club and it seemed like a great place...any recos for or against this place? I can't decide if I think it's outdated or just historic and cool.... I am such a terrible decision maker...

Also, the Cincinnati Parks. Tomorrow we are going to both the French House and Ault Park to see them set up for a wedding.... Any advice here?

thank you!!
Jen

I'm in a wedding at French House and, while it's lovely, I'm getting negative feedback about the ease of working w/ them.  Plus you're limited to caterers (can only use the ones they have a contract with and that's iffy, at best).  We've been to a wedding at the Cincinnati Club; it was excellent and very well put together.  The space was put to great use and their ammenities are wonderful.

I love Cincinnati Parks. I'm getting married at Oak Ridge Lodge in Mt. Airy forest. It all comes down to what time of vibe you want at your wedding. You should think about whether or not the venue fits you and your FI. My FI and I are very laid-back down to earth people so Oak Ridge was perfect for us.

    Hope that helps!

I love the vibe...but I don't love the nickel and diming the Parks seem to do. tables, chairs, set up, china, napkins, servers, extra fee on top of the caterer... it just all adds up SO fast... CAn someone tell me what an average wedding at one of the Parks cost? My math is almost $8k for just the space, tables, chairs and tents!

Our wedding was at the Cincinnati Club - would highly recommend it.  Full review in bio.

Check out the Krippendorf Lodge in Milford - kind of out in the boonies, so not ideal if you want to stay close to downtown, but we had our wedding there and it was as beautiful as a Cincinnati Parks setting and MUCH less expensive. The setting has a lodge with a large covered porch and stone terrace, and lots of woods and walking paths all around the venue. I got so many glowing comments about how pretty our wedding was!
Anyway, just another option for you to consider!

I'm planning my wedding right now at Oak Ridge and it's no where near $8k (not even $5). Yes, we do have to choose one of their caterers but we're using Chef's Choice and they have a pretty reasonable menu. Also renting the Lodge was only $650 ($150 comes back if no damage) for 8 hours and the table and chairs are included. Of course if you choose Ault Park Pavillion, you're expenses are going to be a lot higher. If the Country Club is going to be the cheaper option, I say go for it. Happy Planning!

I you want to go the Park Route ALMS Park, which is just a stones throw from Eden is just a georgous and not booked as easily as Ault. Ault is nice but at ALMS you have  smaller park and less likley to have people wandering around. I was in a wedding where we did photos are Ault but the wedding was at Alms.

Cincinnati Club is also nice but I wanted a little more for what I would have been paying for. I was not impressed with the tour guide we had at all. She was dressed poorly and wouldn't address my fiancee when he had questions for her.

Both great choices but it really is in what atmopshere you want.

    Good luck!

I was at a wedding this past weekend at the Cincinnati Club.  I will say that the setting was elegant.  My complaints were that the acoustics in the room were really poor.  You would think in a large room such as those in the Cincinnat Club there would be a lot of reverberation and great sound.  However, once the room was filled with people, it was very difficult to hear the music, and even more difficult to hear speeches.  I completely missed the father of the bride's toast, didn't even know it happened.  Not to mention that the food was mediocre, VERY small portions and my meal was served incomplete...no vegetable sides.  Final complaint, they charge the bar by consumption to the nearest half bottle, I believe.  My sister ordered a beer and the bar tender having a quarter full bottle, decided rather than pour the remainder of the quarter bottle left and open a new beer to fill the glass, just poured the quarter of the bottle out in the trash and opened a new beer all together.  If I was the bride and knew that was happening I would have been furious.  Overall,  I was thoroughly unimpressed, and honestly thankful that I decided not to go with the venue for my reception in November.
