nails...

Hi everyone.  My wedding is SOON (20 days) and I'm working on details at this point.  One of things I realized is that I hadn't figured out my nail situation.  I would really like for my nails to be manicured for the wedding.  I cannot keep a manicure on my nails for anything.  They usually last about a day.  I've gone several different places and always have the same results.  So, I'm considering gels or acrylics.  I've never done either and I'm worried about what it will do to my nails and if it will look natural.  Any suggestions or salon recommendations?  I live in the Hyde Park/Oakley area.
Thanks!

I've been reading a lot about a new manicure product recently called 'Shellac'.  It's supposed to have the durability of acryllic/gel nails but be much gentler (doesn't require any buffing of the natural nail; diesn't contain chemicals, etc.).  From what I've heard, the manicured look stays with you for ~2 weeks with no buffing, chipping, etc.  It's kind of pricy but I bet you can shop around to see who has the best deal.  Shellac is made by a company called CND and if you google it you can find salons in the area that offer the product.

I had OPI Axxium gel done (over my natural nails) and the manicure lasted for about 2 weeks.  It was beautiful and shiny the entire time.  You have to go back to the salon to get the gel soaked off - and then your natural nails should be unharmed underneath the gel.  You can also search online to see which salons offer it - I believe Salon Beck on 4th street (downtown) does either Shellac or Axxium b/c I see a sign in front of their door all the time about a new long-lasting nail technique.

One of my friends got gels from Paragon, and she loved them.  I don't think they did anything to her nails, and when I saw them several days after she got them done, they were beautiful.

nailtique in mt lookout square does axium too.  its about $35.

for the best most natural acrylics, go to Mary at About Face on Kenwood in Blue Ash.  My mom gets acrylics from her and they are so natural, no one ever knows they aren't her real nail. seriously they are gorgeous.  Also, Mary did our manicures for my wedding 2 weeks ago and her french manicure lasted on my nails for 6 days!  I've never had a manicure last that long, it usually chips after 2 days.
