Frustrated (rant)

Okay guys, Im getting vendors signed almost everyweekend making good progress...But now Ive come to the cake....Its been over 4 weeks since I contacted Marilyns cakes and she has not responded to my emails or phone calls.

Same situation with a videographer that was highly recommended and had good ratings.

I know vendors technically have a 24 hour rule to contact a client back but 4 weeks and still nothing.
I will keep trying other vendors, ty for letting me vent :)

    Marilyns Cakes is who my sister used, and it was really good. We never had any problems. I'd try calling her again!

    did you only contact those two vendors? i always contact multiple vendors at a time and give them a week to respond.

    I know this isn't very helpful, but I do know that October is now the busiest month for weddings in Cincinnati.  I would be patient until November.  Plus, I think you're fine about time, your wedding is said not to be until October 2011.

    I agree to the above. October is now the busiest month for weddings! If you aren't happy with the communication from vendors, move on to the next.  If clearheavens is right, and your wedding is Oct. 2011, you've got PLENTY of time to book your baker and honestly, your videographer too. You could wait 4 months easy to book each of those! :)

    Maybe I see it a little differently but I don't think it's that acceptable for a vendor not to call you back within 24-48 hours.  I've been on the vendor side of it before too.  Granted every once in a while there may be a personal reason behind not calling back but no matter how far out your wedding is, you are still a prospective client so you are just as important.  Or at least do what a couple of my vendors did and put me on the books but agree to meet with me at a later date because I was booking so far out and they were busy with upcoming weddings.  Hopefully that doesn't sound too harsh but  that's my two cents!  Smile

    I had the same issue with Marilyn a few weeks ago. I know people rave about her good her cakes are but also heard about her communication skills(returning calls) is not the best. Well I emailed her back earlier this year about doing a cake tasting but my wedding is not till September 2011. I forgot all about her not returning my email till I hit the 1yr mark and definetly wanted to get my bakery booked. I emailed her again, waited a week and no return email. Then I called and left a message. She did not call back but respond by email 2-3 days apologizing and stating that she was already booked with cakes for my date. Yell

    Thanks Ladies, my venue told me its standard in the industry that 24 hours call back was the norm.

    4 weeks??? You're in the sales phase and they're dropping the ball like that? NOT a good sign
    This was my vendor countdown:
    up to 24 hours - sign of a great vendor
    up to 72 hours - it's been 3 days, what's going on?
    1 week - you're really pushing the envelope
    2 weeks - I'm outta here
