Diana Varga, Jessica Ekberg, Sarah Cormier or Michelle Marx--any reviews or suggestions??

I'm trying to keep the cost reasonable on a makeup artist and was wondering if anyone had used these artists and had any recommendations?? I'm trying to choose and having a hard time!

I can't speak on any of the other ones, but I had a trial with Michelle Marx and she did a fabulous job.

I'm sorry I don't know this lady's last name.  My officiant told me about her - this information was shared by one of her previous brides:

She was great to work with and so cheap!  She charges the bride $30 which includes a practice before the wedding.  She charges bridesmaids only $10.  Here is her information….

I'm going with Michelle Marx.  Have only heard the greatest things about her.  I can't wait for our trial in June.

I also used Diana Varga for another event, she was amazing and her makeup looked great.  Too bad she was booked on my wedding day already.

I just got married on March 26 and used Michelle Marx for both hair and makeup. I had done my trial with her and so I knew what I wanted. My BM didn't really kno what they wanted and Michelle and her assistant were able to offer suggestions and made everyone look fabulous. My hair and makeup stayed in place all night and I was really happy with everything.

I know everyone here has loved Michelle Marx but I had a negative experience with her. I had booked her (and paid in advance in full) for my hair and makeup for my wedding a few weeks ago. I had 5 others I told her also needed hair or makeup done. Michelle was scheduled for 1 pm. She didn't arrive until 3 pm, which was 30 to 45 minutes before I told her we needed to be ready for the photos. And she didn't answer my or my planners' texts or calls until about 230 pm. Thankfully, we found other hair dressers/makeup people to take us at the last minute. Michelle did end up doing my hair and it looked good but the tardiness was a big problem. There was no time for her to do my makeup or anyone else's hair. I found out later that Michelle had booked another group of girls for their wedding and scheduled then until 130 and even then had no problem going overtime. Again, she was supposed to be at my hotel at 1pm. Looking back I should have been more on top of triple checking with her that week because she was flaky in responding to emails from me and my planner. I just wanted to share my experience. I had gotten her name through these boards and relied on them for a lot of other vendors.

I used michelle in December and she was Great! Everyone looked amazing. She was on time, and so much fun.  We are using her again in July for my sister's wedding.

I hate to be another negative review, but I also had a bad experience with Michelle Marx.  She scheduled my trial run, then a day before it emailed me saying, "when can I get you in for a trial run?"  I told her that I thought we had it scheduled already and she replied that it wasn't possible because the appointment I had on my calendar was on a Sunday and she said that she doesn't do Sunday appointments.

So, we began trying to schedule another trial run.  She proposed a date that was a Sunday.....I thought it odd, but agreed.  Again, about 2 days before that date, she emails me saying, "when can I get you in for a trial run?"  I responded that, again, I thought we had one on the calendar already.  She apologized and said that yes, we're all set to go.

The next day she emails me to confirm the trial run and then (literally) ten minutes later emailed me saying that there was a problem and that she needed to speak with me right away.  I called her to learn that she'd lost her hair kit and wouldn't be able to do the trial run until the following week. 

Extremely skeptical at this point....I rescheduled but with severe doubts.  Finally, I go to her studio for the trial run....and guess what.......No Michelle.  

Needless to say she is not who I booked.....

Im using Diana Varga, shes very promt with communication and very low deposit/cost and will travel to your location. Hope that helps

I am using Sarah Cormier! OMG! She is wonderful. We had a trial the other day and my makeup looked great! I could not be happier. She does not do airbrush, but honestly, I don't think its all that necessary, she used MAC brushes and products that made my skin look flawless. I could not be happier! She is not on The Knot. I just recently had a trial makeup run by Crystal Henize, owner of Eye Do Makeup and Lash Design and I could not have been more pleased.  I believe it is worth noting that I am a "light" make-up wearer; I generally just use brozer, eye liner, mascara, and I'm out the door.  I definitely wanted to have professional make up done on the higher end for my wedding and Crystal was incredible.  The best thing about her is how knowledgeable she is.  She not only knows how to apply the make up perfectly, but she is well aware as to what products work best with photography and how to take care of you skin, all to make you look the aboslute best in person and the pictures you'll hold on to.  SImply put, I felt like the most gorgeous version of myself thanks to Crystal.  I am so excited and confident in Eye Do Makeup and Lash Design and want to lend my recommendation to anyone who is in the wedding makeup market.  She is the BEST!
