Cancelling my flight

So we've booked a flight to Florida after FI insisted he didn't want to drive. Now, we could really use that money for other things, and on top of that I am absolutely terrified of flying. The first time I had ever flown, I freaked out. Being older and understanding more hasn't exactly helped.

I want a refund. Anyone know how I can go about doing this? It's a non-refundable ticket, but I know if I board that plane, I will freak out! Especially knowing I'm stuck up there for 2 hours. Even thinking about it gives me this terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach...

I think that the best that you can do is pay $150 to change the flight.  I'm not sure if that includes changing the name of the passenger.

Non-refundable means NON refundable.  They won't give you your money back.

Thanks...I might see about getting a voucher for a flight some other time. I don't wanna face my fears pre-honeymoon. I'd like to be relaxed. Lol

If you go to your doctor and your doctor gives you a medical excuse (anxiety maybe?) they have to allow you to cancel your flight, full refund.

I think you can buy trip cancellation insurance real cheap, then just say you got sick.

I would suggest seeing if your doctor can give you something for the anxiety. That will probably help you relax for the two hour flight! Good luck :)

Also, be sure to get an aisle seat (assuming you do choose to fly).  Like you, I fear/hate flying but then I tried an aisle seat (and a riveting book), and have since found the Florida flights aren't so bad anymore.

I think we are opting for changing it for a later date. We wanted to go to Vegas in December so maybe towards that...

We're flying! Haha eveyone keeps telling me to drink before, but I think I will just jump into this extremely open minded to the experience. I haven't flown in 9 years and look forward to experiencing it again! At least that's what I'm telling myself. Lemonade ladies! =]

my hubby hates flying (anxiety). he didn't handle the flight down to Florida very well, but was much better on the return flight. what worked? he was tired and slept through most of it thanks to the motion sickness meds in his system from the cruise we had just taken. also if you haven't picked seats yet, try to sit near the wings of the plane. that seems to be a smoother/less noisy ride.

I just wanted to chime in, although I see now that you decided to fly, that not all airlines will give you a refund for medical reasons. My grandfathers doctor gave him a referral, and all they did was offer them a voucher for a later time. They would not give the money back for any reason. It's crap. Just thought I would say that just incase you change your mind again or anyone else reads this. =]
