Day of Coordinator

Hi everyone  :)  My wedding is SOON (September 5th) and as I'm bringing everything together I am realizing that a Day of Coordinator may be a smart thing to look into.  Have any of you hired one?  How much are you paying? If you have already married and used one, was it worth it?  Finally, any vendor recommendations (did anyone use Bliss?)
Thanks for your help!

I'd like more information, as well.

I just booked Julie with Cincy Event Planning.  I hired her for a little more than a DOC since I'm planning from out of town, but I really clicked with her.  She's SO friendly and helpful.  I felt so calm and relaxed when when I talked to her, so I knew she'd be a great fit.

Here's her website (read the "about us" parts and the stories from previous clients).  www.cincyeventplanning.com

I was looking it to Bethany & Jen of Bellissimo.  They are newly formed in the last couple of years but had been dong Wedding Coordinating for a while before making the business official!  I haven't looked in to pricing yet but I met them through a friend of a friend and I really liked them and am now thinking more seriously about hiring help.  Good luck in your search!

Your Weddings by Jen is AWESOME!  I am using her for my upcoming wedding.  Her prices are some of the best in the city but she should be charging more.  She has gone above and beyond all my expectations and I haven't even had my wedding yet.  Definitely look in to her.

I met with Bliss back when I was interviewing and she was super sweet, however I couldn't find anything out about her which made me kind of nervous.

    GL!

I used Julie as well. I loved her and Lindsey both. They do a great job and were very prepared for the event. I was very happy to have them even though nothing went wrong. It was a huge load off my shoulders.

I third Julie from CEP.   She's so full of ideas and is doing so many things to help us and to save money.  Granted I'm using her as a full planner, not just DOC, but still.  She's so friendly.

STADT2B, I talked to you earlier about PBS, and ended up talking to Lindsey after your wedding.  She said that the food was amazingly delicious!  So glad to hear that!

I did not use a planner, but am sure they are very helpful and take a lot off your plate. Since I didn't use one I thougth I'd at least give you some perspective on how my day went without a planner. I had a descent size wedding and had a lot of vendors and also had a lot of bm and friends to help. I can't think of anything on the day of the wedding that I needed help with though?!?!? Since my vendors were very organized and good at what they did I was in good shape. I hope this makes sense and at least give you another point of view. IMO I say use your friends and save the $$. Good Luck with your decision.

I am also using Your Wedding by Jen and absolutely adore her. I love that she is super calm and always responds to my questions right away. I think wedding planning just comes natural for her or something because when ever I feel like I am freaking out after I talk to her I wonder what I was worried about.
I am also using her for more then just day of and even though she is a bit edgy she totally gets traditional also. I am incorporating a mixture of both. You would not be disappointed with her at all.

I was going to go with Weddings by Jenn,  but my reception facility, Drees, has a peson that acts as DOC.  So I think I'm going to take DOC out of my budget.  Has anyone else just let the facility handle the day-of logistics?  It's where the ceremony and the reception wlil take place....

The Cincinnati Museum Center (Union Terminal) also has a DOC that comes with the use of the facility. Although we do not meet with her until closer to the wedding, I am relieved that there will be someone who can coordinate the vendors and keep us on track time-wise.

I used Kristen Kloth with Tres Chic Event Planning and was absolutely THRILLED with the service she and her assistant provided.  There's a full review in my bio.

    Hi!

I'm new here but I'm using Kellie with Hand in Hand Bridal. So far she has been really great. I'm using her for more than Day of but she let's you choose what you want so I'm sure you could get a good price by choosing how much help you want.

    Hey there,

I'll pipe in my 2 cents' worth since I hired a DOC and LOVED her!  She was SO on top of everything and has been in the industry for years.  She took the stress of planning off my back -- I had most of the big things booked myself, but when it came to details and timelines and vendor confirmations and problem-solving...I just couldn't have done it without her.

Also, at the last minute (I'm not even kidding, like 8 days before the wedding) I decided I couldn't live without a videographer.  Every good one in the Cinci area was booked.  Colleen came through and suggested a crew out of Louisville -- I checked them out and hired them right away and am SO thrilled with their service as well.

She was VERY reasonably priced and went above and beyond for us.  My (now) husband was hesitant to hire a DOC, period, but was incredibly glad we did.  He saw how it allowed me to be able to hand the reigns over on our wedding day so I could sit back and enjoy our day.

Her contact info is:  Colleen Sutton of Ava Rose Event Design (colleen@avaroseeventdesign.com) 513-515-6125.  Tell her Tammy sent ya!
