I was just at a wedding there a few weekends ago and while the room was pretty, the outside was not great. The greens of the course were pretty brown and where we sat for the wedding outside was nice.....but OMG the pond was not taken care of and smelled horribly. Everyone was talking about it. It was HOT but we WANTED the wind to NOT blow...because of the terrible smell!!

The food was NOT good either. Not well seasoned and was just blah. There was chicken with artichokes tomatos and onoins and the only thing good was the artichokes and tomatoes. Chicken was awful. The potatos were good, but only after you added the spiced sauce. The snow snap peas were over cooked and the salad was right out of a bag and tasted like plastic. The prime rib was good though.

We were also at a wedding at the manor house in June and everything was beautiful. The food was awesome too!  They had this amazing salad first and then chicken and primerib. Delish!

Maybe Shaker had an off night, everyone does. But IMHO Manor House is the better place.

Have never been to Shaker Run, but my ex used to run the Manor House so I attended lots of events there.  Perfection.  Food, decor, restrooms, cleanliness, everything.  I couldn't get in there for my wedding because it was booked for the date.  I know their prices scare lots of people away though.
I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine.

The Manor House is really expensive but a beautful facility. A company I worked for used to have special events there and the staff was always great to us.

Our wedding is at the Manor House.  It is pricey, but there is so much in that price, and I've heard they are wonderful to work with.  Everytime I tell a vendor that's where our wedding is, they seem happy, so I hope that's a good sign. :-)

What sold me on the Manor House was the reception room we are in.  We're in the Crystal Ballroom, and I love the patio, and the look of the room.  I'm also really excited that our ceremony is literally just steps away.

We looked at both Shaker Run and the Manor House. The main reason we were sold on the Manor House is everything is beautiful. They have great ceremony locations and reception locations. I remember I really liked Shaker Run, but their ceremony and back-up ceremony locations were nothing to get excited about.

I'm with saxy, what sold us was the reception location. We are also in the Crystal Ballroom, and you have the whole patio area outside as well. We are getting married in May, so there is potential for great weather, which will be perfect if people want to take a stroll outside.

The price at the Manor House can be daunting, but remember it includes A LOT. It's a minimum price point that you have to spend, which includes food, drink, etc. You have linens, plates, napkins, silverware to choose from that are included (or you can upgrade to different options). I've heard phenomenal things about the food and the service is great. I've never heard a bad thing about it.

I still have my notes on both if you have questions. I'm sure either one will be great for your wedding!

It's been a long time, but we visited the Manor House when looking for a venue.  DH and I are very casual people, so we probably didn't make the best impression.  However, when we got there, we were put into a little office that was crammed with stuff.  The lady we were supposed to work with decided to take a phone call before talking to us.  She basically ran through the building, until she decided to ask how he proposed (see bio).  Her eyes got big, and then she asked to see my ring.  We were treated like royalty after that, but I was already put off.  I've heard some great reviews, but that was my only experience with them.
