Venues-Madison, Grand, Drees and others

Has anyone had theirs or been at a reception at the Madison (Emerald or Grande Ballroom) in Covington?  Or the Grand (McHale's Catering) in Covington? Or Drees Pavilion in Devou Park?  These are the ones we are most interested in.  We have thought about checking out the Bell Event Center, 20th Century Theater and The Phoenix as well.  Any input on these venues would be great!  My head is kind of spinning from the options and pros/cons so far!

I've been to a wedding at the 20th Century theater and The Madison.  Hands down, the 20th century theater!!!  It was the most eccentric wedding I had ever been to.  How many people are you planning on having??  If I remember correctly, it's a smaller venue!  I would totally choose 20th Century for my own wedding, but we are getting married in my grandparent's backyard

Thank you for the info!  I'll check out 20th Century for sure.  We are planning 250 or so people.  I'm new to the Cincy area and am trying to find all of the venues that are close to downtown/N.KY as we don't want our guests to travel far from our ceremony in Cincy.  There seems to be many options.  I haven't looked into country clubs or hotels yet either.  I like the idea of all inclusive and not a lot of added costs that might come up.  I'd love an outdoor wedding, at somewhere like Ault Park, but it seems like the costs could really add up after adding in everything seperately.  That's great you are able to get married at your grandparents!

The Grand lives up to it's name...it's awesome.  I love the ballroom and the balcony overlooking it as well as the floor to ceiling windows.  If we had not already committed to holding our wedding elsewhere, FI and I agree we'd have booked the Grand..

I recently when to a reception at the Phoenix & it was beautiful!! Good food, very nice on the inside, & pretty big! I haven't been to any of the others you mentioned. GL!

I have been to and I am having my reception at the Madison! The girls that work there are absolutely amazing, I have never had bad food (I've been to quite a few receptions there), they have free on site parking, a shuttle if you block rooms at the courtyard marriot...and much more to offer! I have been very happy with my decision to be a Madison Bride!

Also, when we were in planning stages I checked out the Phoenix and Drees but decided they weren't for us. Dress is gorgeous but more expensive than the others, and the Phoenix was Gorgeous and I have heard great things about it, we almost booked there but decided we didn't want to be downtown for the reception.

My FBIL had his wedding at the Drees Pavilion in Devou Park and it was lovely.  The view was incredible and the venue was really beautiful.  They had a large dance floor that was the center of attention all night long.  Also it was fun to be able to go outside and walk around and see the Cincy city line.  I've heard that this place books up quickly (I'm sure many of the venues you listed do as well).  Good luck with your planning!

I have been to weddings at of all those locations. The one that really stood out to me was the Bell Center. It was pretty and the food was great. All the others where nice but typical reception places.

We were going to use one of the Cincinnati Parks but the group that runs them were horrible with communcation. We have friends getting married at Ault Park and they have "lost" their contract 3 times.
