Issues with band- opinions needed!

I am writing in attempts to not freak out over issues I'm having with the band we booked last August.  Our wedding is 9/3/11 and so far I have been more than happy with all of the vendors we've booked, except for the band.  We decided on a band called Off the Hook last year and put a $500 deposit/ signed contract.  I spoke to the contact for the band when I booked them (had no problem reaching him at that time) but have had A LOT of trouble reaching them ever since.  In January I sent a follow-up email just to touch base and it took weeks and several more emails to hear anything.  We almost cancelled after having that much trouble but the guy reassured me everything would be fine and he apologized for any trouble.  My only reassurance is their website has us on the calendar.

I emailed them 3 weeks ago to set up an appointment to meet in person and still have heard nothing back!  I've left messages and sent another email.

We are still 2 months away from the wedding but I live out-of-town and I'm really limited on when I can sit down to meet with them (I'm only in town every few weeks).  It is really important to us to have a band and we booked this one as a surprise to my FI's parents who really like them.  I'm trying not to freak out but I'm also worried that if we wait too long we will end up with no band at all!

Any advise or opinions on this situation is really appreciated!!

Do they have an office or studio or something where you could just swing by?

I would e-mail them and be very clear that you have limited time to meet with them because you don't live in the area.  I would tell them that you expect a response by X date or you will expect your deposit refunded.

Hopefully that will shake them out of their relaxed approach.  Our DJ said we didn't need to meet to finalize the music until 6 wks before the wedding.  So maybe they think there is plenty of time?  Good luck to you!
