OOT Bag Packaging Ideas

Does anyone have any cute and unique ideas for the packaging of OOT bags?  I am planning to give them to the guests at the welcome dinner that we will have on the evening before the wedding so I am not concerned about hotel personnel having to deal with them.  I would like to try something other than regular paper gift bags, canvas bags or gift boxes.  I thought of popcorn boxes or tubs since I will be giving a bag of popped popcorn and maybe a candy apple.  Please let me know your ideas.  Thanks so much!

What are your wedding colors? How much stuff do you have to put in the package.

Wedding colors are super muted shades of blue and champagne, as well as other neutrals, but the colors for the welcome dinner (where the OOT packages will be provided) are more intense shades of blue and champagne with deep purple.

So far I am including the following:

    -medium sized bag of popcorn
    -candy apple
    -candy bar
    -bottles of water
    -Cincinnati souvenir magnet
    -postcards
    -aspirin

I am thinking that I need a container that is about medium sized so the container looks full--I don't know what "medium sized" means but I am looking at a regular piece of 8 1/2 x 11 paper and I think that looks like about the right size.

What about a microwave popcorn bowl?? We have used these as the base of a movie "basket"- a dvd, two cans of pop, crinkle paper (red & green for christmas) and a container of movie theatre candy.. I know you are already giving them popcorn, but it might be nice to have one for later too :-)

Sometimes if you go to the dollar store or target, you can also find a nice sized popcorn bowl for like a buck a piece...that might work well.

I've been checking around, and thinking about ideas.  This actually got me thinking about what I would be doing, guess I hadn't thought much about it.  Michaels has some pretty cute glass ware type dishes, vases, bowls...they even have some cute tea pots.  One other thing to think about is, how many guest are flying in?  At least for those folks, might be best to think of something they can easily pack up.  The other thing I thought of, but it doesn't match your colors, would be to maybe contact the stadiums and see if you could buy some of the plastic Reds or Bengals cups (the ones that you take home...not the disposible ones) and fill a couple of cups with your stuff.  You could get some of the clear cellophane wrap and make a cute little gift.  Would give them something as a cool take home from the area.

Although it's along the lines of a canvas bag, I purchased reusable bags for my guests that they could use for groceries, etc. afterwards, and I had a lot of people comment they really liked having something they could use again that also helped the environment.

As another poster said, you also might want to consider whether people are flying or driving--for flying, the less fragile, the better.

    Hi HSchall!
We did the same thing for our guests and used these awesome cardboard carry out boxes. They look like something a nice lunch place would put food in.  We tied with ribbon that matched our colors and also had a sticker made with our names/wedding date on it. They turned out SUPER CUTE. I think my Mom found the boxes online at mrtakeoutbags.com. Good Luck!
