Hi! We tried Ele and Frosted (as well as some other places), and we are going with Ele. Frosted was pretty good, but we thought Ele stood head and shoulders above everyone else in terms of taste, especially their specialty flavors. You should definitely at least do a tasting at Ele because they give you a HUGE tasting plate and it is sooo good! We're having chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling, banana cake with Bavarian cream filling, and lemon cake with raspberry filling.

Oh and also, here's a link (clicky) to our blog post about cake tasting!

  • We taste tested with Ele and The Cakery.  We decided to go with the Cakery.  They fit in our budget and everything tasted great!  We received a lot of compliments about our cupcake choices, which were chocolate with chocolate mousse and chocolate buttercream icing, orange with buttercream icing, and spice cake with pumpkin mouse and cream cheese icing.

We were very happy with our cupcakes.  Good luck.
  • Ele is SO good!!

My step daughter used The Cake Lady in Springboro and it was a diaster.  The cake fell over before we even got to the reception.  To make the situation worse, she accused the photographer of knocking it over but she was still at the church when it fell.  She also did not put the cake topper on and she accused the catering staff of stealing it until she admitted to finding it in her bedroom closet.   It was a nightmare.
  • we tasted at Ele, The cake Shop (Fairborne) and Ashley's Bake Shop. Ele has an exclusitvity clause which was an issue for us. We wanted Frosted and my grandmother has already ordered cake pop favors from there, so ELE was out. The Cake Shop was horrible. Bad service, bad samples, and the gal we did the tasting with didn't seem excited at all about our event. The samples were dry and nasty. We were very disappointed, it seemed like a cheap place and the price reflected it the experince. We are using Ashley's Bake Shop in Oakwood. They did my Aunt and Uncle's cake about 24 years ago. Very mom and pop feel, and  the same price range, little cheaper than Ele.
  • And the winner was....Ele!!!! Their gourmet Italian raspberry cake is ridiculously good. We're doing a display cake in that flavor and then kitchen cakes of chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling. It's saving us a ton and bringing the price of Ele closer to those of the competition.
