Negotiating with The Madison advice needed

I have read some posts that indicate that some people have been able to negotiate the price, options, etc with The Madison.  I am terrible at this kind of stuff, so I am looking for advice.  Any advice on how to do this?

I knew what I wanted, and I also had another venue willing to give me those items.  I told them what I was offered elsewhere, and they matched it.  I ended up using the other venue because most of my guests were OOT and it was easier to find, but other than that I would have been happy with the Madison.

Also, if you know of any one else who has gotten a quote less than yours at the Madison with the same room, I hear you can take their quote in or tell them you know someone with a lower quote, and they will knock some money off.
