Duplicate Gifts

Well I need to start out by saying that yes...I am a registry stalker...haha.

I have a shower with FI's side of them family coming up in two weekends and I noticed (while stalking) that I am receiving a duplicate gift.  It is a spring form pan...which I don't think I will ever need two of.

So my question is, what do I do when I open both?  Act like I will keep both?  Just say thank you to both of them and pretend like I didn't realize it was the same gift?  I am probably making too big of a deal of this, but I think I will feel awkward enough with all of FI's aunts and cousins for an afternoon brunch when I don't know many of them all that well.

this happened to my friend last summer. She got two sets of ice buckets/ice tongs/cocktail shakers. She just graciously said thank you and moved on.  Don't act like it is weird - just open, thank, move on to next gift. Lots of people probably won't really even notice.  I think it will only be awkward if you make it awkward.

Yeah, just thank them for the gift and move on. If I were the person that gave you one of the duplicate gifts I may pipe up after you open it and mention that I'd be more than happy to return it for you and send something different. It happens, it's not a big deal.

Lol someone bought me 2 of these too!!!  So I plan on doing just what you said.  Then we are going to have to return 1 to the store.

If it was me- I'd probably say something like "Wow! Now I get to have one and FI gets to have one too!!", but that is how our friends/family are like- lots of kidding around.

But I agree, just move on and keep opening gifts!

I've registered at Macy's and Bed, Bath, Beyond and I did duplicate registering of a couple items (blender & cake pans). Do you think this is a bad idea? I did it so that one place might have it on sale or one person may prefer to shop at one store over the other.
