Furbabies - day of the wedding?

For those of you who have a dog; what will you be doing with them the day of your wedding? My mom just informed me (8 days before the wedding) that she will not keep my dog overnight the night of the wedding. We are doing pictures before the ceremony so we will be gone most of the day. Also we are staying in a hotel that night.

My parents neighbor is watching their dogs and will be willing to watch my dog too. The problem is she will be at the wedding so there will not be anyone there to feed her dinner and we still need to figure out what to do with her overnight. I am very nervous about boarding her because I have heard stories about animals being abused by employees. I know not every place is like that but you never know who is capable of harming animals.

Should I board her or let my parent's neighbor watch her and then put her in our house alone for the night? Does anyone have a recommendation for a good kennel?

I ran into the same problem and my little guy has never been boarded so I was pretty nervous about it.  I don't know what part of town you live in but I know PetNation Lodge in Loveland treats the animals REALLY well!  And the dogs aren't in "cages", more like individual pins.  My parents have boarded their dog at Pet Suites (which has a couple locations around town) and they really like them.  I can't say because I've never been there's a suggestion.

Truthfully, I'm pretty stressed out about it too but it can't be that bad for just one night, right?  :)

I have heard good things about pet suites as well. My aunt uses them and loves them.

My H stayed at home the night before.  His cousin lives right down the street from us, so we left the pups at home and she checked on them for us.

i've used petsuites and liked them.

I think i'm going to start boarding my cat a few days before the wedding and then through the honeymoon.  she will be confused and upset with all these people running around, even though i'll miss her.  It's better for her in the end.

I'll bet you can ask your vet about boarding places.  i'm sure that they get feedback from their clients all the time.

I second mschneid02 about asking your veterinarian (our your parent's if yours is not local).  There are some vet hospitals that also offer boarding which is nice for the older pets or those on medications becasue you have highly qualified staff there for them.  Although there are many percks to the boarding facilities as well.  ALWAYS ALWAYS ask for a tour of their facility.  If they balk or make you come back another time then I would consider another facility.

We're taking our dog to camp bow wow with her dog-aunt Ruby for the whole weekend, I think.

We REALLY wanted Parker to be in our ceremony but my mom has put her foot down!
