Who knew that picking a cake baker would be so difficult?
I would really like opinions and advice.

Here is where I am at the moment....My FI and I would like to keep the cake price reasonable (like 99% of the other couples in town).
We have tasted Bonbonnerie and Sweetwater Bakehouse thus far. we want a traditional stacked wedding cake to feed around 100 people.

The Bonbonnerie cakes were AWESOME, but their is a surcharge for more than one flavor on the same wedding cake. I was kind of hoping to have each layer as a different flavor, but I guess I don't have to.

After tasting the Bonbonnerie cakes, Sweetwater Bakehouse was not nearly as rich in flavor and just okay tasting in my opinion.

Flying Buttercream and Marilyn's do not have our date available. We have a tasting with Artrageous in a few weeks. anyone tried Artrageous cakes? What do you think?

Any otherbakers that you think we must try? TIA!

Give Fantasy in Frosting a try- I wouldnt have done it without trying one of their cakes before walking in but they do amazing work. They dont spend a lot of time updating their shop but their prices are wonderful and the cake is VERY good.

I had artrageous at a bridal show a few weeks ago and I thought they tasted pretty good. There is also Patricia's Cakes... Her work is pretty and her cake is really good too.

We also liked Servatii, a European pastry shop similar to Bonbonnerie.

Have you looked into Tres Belle? 

We ultimately decided to go with Flying Buttercream, but we did a tasting with Tres Belle and loved it (the price was the deciding factor, but Tres Belle really isn't terribly expensive, either.)

Patricia's is REALLY good! I tried hers at an event. My FI and I are going with Bonbonnerie, though....but I thought they tasted the same.

Definitely, DEFINITELY look into Andrea Dee at Homegrown Cakes. 

She and her husband own a small farm in Alexandria, KY. All of her cakes are organic, etc, and she bakes and designs all of them herself. She is super wonderful and has been a joy to work with-- and her cake is the cheapest (and most delicious!) of all that I tried. I got super lucky finding her through a friend and she is one of my favorite vendors.

You should definitely check out Tres Belle.  The price is very reasonable and she'll do different flavors and fillings without charging extra.  Plus, her cakes taste great and look beautiful!
