Yeah that's kindda similar to a couple who had "Project Wedding".   They asked people to donate everything and anything for their wedding and they weren't going to spend a dime for their wedding.  One of their rules was that even if you donated something they decided whether it fit with their "theme" and whether they were going to use it.  Also if the items would involve guests in anyway (ex. chairs or food) there had to be enough for their 200 guests.
    here's the website http://projectpriceless.blogspot.com/p/links.html

I'm ashamed that we live in the same town.  I'm all for donating and DIY and asking for help but this is a little ridiculous.  We're all on budgets and want things we can't have but to go under the guise of "this is a social experiment" is a farce.

Pretty sure that's against ebays rules about listings. I reported it. They aren't selling an item which is against their rules.

  • I just looked at that website, madison. I hate that. Everyone else has to pay for stuff themselves, what makes you so special that you should get it donated to you?

And when I say you I mean them, hahah.

Yea, like I'm all for trying to do things as cheaply as possible and for recycling and charity BUT when your asking for people to donate things for YOUR wedding and it has to be able to accommodate TWO HUNDRED PEOPLE!! I think that's a little excessive.
Oh I forgot to mention, they even asked for someone to donate a place to have their Stag and Doe and cater ALL the food and gifts for raffle and everything.
FYI a stag and doe is the norm here, its a party that's hosted by someone other than the B&G where people buy tickets (usually somewhere in the $2-5 range)  and whatever money is left over after the costs of the alcohol, DJ and venue the rest is given to the B&G.
Anyways, they were advertising for people to donate their services and products for this and then they also got the $$ that was generated from that and they invited the whole city to come.  BUT a stag and doe is meant to help the B&G with the cost of the wedding and since they had no cost to the wedding because everything was donated in the first place I'm wondering what they spent the money on....

Whenever the papers would do a piece on them they would always say it was a 'social experiment' and they would always sneak in how hard working and deserving they are but are in dead end jobs and can't afford much..... So get another job or have a JOP wedding like anyone else would...
Sorry... as you can see these ppl piss me off..
