Reception at a Hotel

We've decided to have our reception at a hotel due to the large size of our party, and the fact that many of our friends and family are going to be coming in from out of town. We've narrowed it down to 3 places-the radisson, marriott, and embassy suites (all downtown riverfront locations). Are any of you planning on having your receptions at one of these places, or have you been to a wedding reception at them? I'd love to here some reviews of the places before I schedule visits to them later this month.

I have never been to a wedding at any of those hotels but I have been to one at the Westin and one at The Hilton. Both were beautiful and convenient. Both of these weddings had a lot of out of town guests and it seemed really nice that they could come right from their hotel room to the wedding and then be in a central location if they wanted to explore the city.

Ours is at Embassy Suites! I'm really excited about it. I didn't look at the Radisson, so don't know much about that. We did look at the Marriott too - I'd say it was nicer, but it was also quite a bit more expensive - and personally I didn't think it was THAT much nicer that it made it worth the price difference :)

I don't know how big your wedding will be - but if it isn't too big the Embassy Suites has a room that overlooks the river & downtown Cincy. Sooo pretty! I think you have to have under 150 people though... something like that. Ours was too big. We are using the city view room for our cocktail hour & then moving into the ballroom for the reception.

Let me know if you have any specific Embassy Suites related questions.

Also, my votes would be for the Marriott or Embassy Suites. I have a friend getting married and having her reception at the Marriott next July 23, 2011.  Wonderful experience thus far.  The food at the Marriott is awesome!

We looked at the Embassy and the Radisson, not Marriot b/c it was pricier. If you're looking for an elegant ballroom look, I'd choose the Radisson..I was surprised at how pretty it was, with huge chandeliers, but no windows.
We wanted something more casual and the view sealed the deal in the City View room at the Embassy. The PP was correct about number of attendees in City View... max capacity is under 100 for City View OR 160 for the combo of City View and Captain's View (an air wall can be removed). It may cost more though for both? The view is spectacular if you can fit your party in there. The other large ballroom IMHO is alright (also without windows).HTH!

We had our reception in the City View room at the Embassy on 4.24.10 and it was beautiful! You can only have a max of 150 guests ~ not 160 with combining the two rooms like pp said and it did not cost any more to use the entire space. I used both rooms and had the room set for 130 and I couldn't imagine any more than that in the room. But I highly recommend the Embassy ~ they were incredibly nice and very accommodating!

If you'd like I can send you some pics? Email me at econner42@hotmail.com if you'd like to see the room set up.

econner42: Did you book your space before the renovation?
Pre-renovation when we signed our contract they told us that it would cost extra to reserve both rooms.
Post-renovation, they (thankfully) realized it wouldn't fit our 100 guests, so we ended up getting both rooms with no extra cost.
I wouldn't be surprised if they now charge extra for new contracts to use both rooms.
Anyway, here's a pic from the grand opening...
