Hey ladies,
I don't do this often, but this is one of those times where I feel that's it worth delving into NWR matters (dill, if I need to delete this, just let me know).
Today in Times Square, Amnesty International launched a maternal death clock to coincide with the start of the Millennium Development Goals Summit happening in NYC. It's meant to be a grim reminder to world leaders that, as they sit and talk, women are dying.
On Friday, I delivered 25,000 signatures to the world's leaders, demanding that they make sure that human rights are an integral part of the MDGs, including MDG5 (ending preventable maternal deaths). To send an even louder message, we're asking that people sign our online petition to be delivered to the Summit on Wednesday morning.
If you have 30 seconds to spare, please click on the link below to see the online version of the clock and to sign our petition - we're only 1500 signatures away from our goal of 20,000.
Thanks in advance everyone who signs, and if you have any friends or family who you feel would like to take action to help save women's lives, please encourage them to sign as well.
