TGIF!!!!!

YAY!!!!  You made it!!!  With Christmas this weekend, I'm sure everyone will be super busy running from house to house or even cooking/baking up a storm in your own, last minute shopping & wrapping last minute presents!  Make sure to take a minute to just sit there and soak everything in over the weekend!  Remember what the holidays are all about: family =)

Merry Christmas &Happy Holidays to you & yours!!!

  • Merry Christmas to all of you too!

I'm very thankful FI's family decided to keep things simple and do secret santa this year. Everyone's been having a hard time so we'll all be showing up with one gift each Saturday night. Plus I kinda like that it lets on focus on the more important things.

On another note, Sunday is my birthday.. and it just feels weird. Nothing to do with aging or anything, just doesn't really feel like a birthday this year. Not that it ever has since I'm competing with Christmas over here hahaha. But the fact that it's a Sunday makes it even more complicated and I just feel like it doesn't exist this year lol. Supposedly a few friends will be coming over for lunch and drinks (since here the tradition is to celebrate on Christmas Eve until midnight, so the 25th is free for the most part) but since everyone works the next day, we'll see how that goes. :-\

That celebrating at midnight thing must be a Latin American thing - as FI and his grandma want to start the gift exchange at midnight between Christmas Eve/Christmas day - where traditionally - I've always done Christmas morning. I'm okay either way though. :o)

Happy Birthday, by the way. My birthday is nine days before Christmas - I can't imagine actually being on Christmas!

  • I wish we could be as excited as you guys are. On Wednesday night FI and I were struck with the flu and I passed out twice and hit my head both times. FI took me to the ER. We're fine, we slept all day yesterday. I am so sad because I am supposed to be at my parents' house, but we will head over there tomorrow. We just can't make the long drive until we both feel better.

I'm jealous that my brother and his FI are at my parents' decorating the sugar cookies that my mom baked last night. I'm pretty much pouting right now!! But I'm grateful that we both are feeling better now.

    Merry Christmas!

  • Mekiakoo I'm so sorry!! I imagine how you must be feeling about missing out with your family! :( Hope you both start feeling better soon!!

Brightfirefly, it is a Latin American thing actually, which always made the 25th kinda boring for me hahaha. But I hear it works out better for some couples so they don't have to pick sides. They spend Christmas Eve with the Latin American family and Christmas morning with the American family lol. Well almost works out besides the fact you're probably very tired come Christmas afternoon haha

Yeah - it would work out perfectly if FI's family lived in the same state as us.

They also have a New Years tradition of eating 12 grapes. If you have a sour grape - that will be a bad month for you.  Know anything of that one?

    Lol touche.

You know I've heard about the 12 grapes, but it's not a tradition in my family or FI's.. I've heard it's either about making a wish for each month of the year or just good luck for each month. Too bad about the sour grape though hahaha that's a new one!
  • Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!! I hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend!  We will be off to the start of our eating feast in a couple hours.  I'm glad I have next week off to recuperate from this weekend.  Happy Birthday Nati! Mekiakoo I hope you are feeling better.  I almost always get sick around the holidays so I feel your pain on being couped up :(
