Affordable Outside/Rustic Venue?

Hey, Brides,

I recently made the mistake of completely falling in love with the venue Louland Falls. Have you looked at it? It looks gorgeous, and the location is perfect for us. But then I come to find out that it is a bit out of our price range.

We really want an outdoor wedding. We have planned tons of handmade touches, and we're hoping for a rustic wedding to show of Utah's majestic beauty to all of our out-of-town guests.

I am feeling really disheartened right now that even in this great state I can't seem to find an outdoor venue with spectacular views within a reasonable distance of SLC, that will allow us to dance all night under the stars, and won't break the bank. How is that possible? This is the place for all of that!

Please advise.

Re: Affordable Outside/Rustic Venue?

  • I'm getting married up by Jordanelle at a place called "The Lodge @ Stillwater"
It is very reasonable priced.  Check it out :)

  • So Louland Falls used to be Rose Sach's?  Because I was going to suggest Rose Sachs and see the photos are the same!

    How many guests?

Did you price out Mill Creek Lodge and Log Haven?
    Red Butte Gardens?

</div><div>Yes, Louland was once Rose Sachs. And,based on a conversation I had with another bride, it seems that their prices may have gone up during the transition. But it still looks gorgeous. It's between Mill Creek and Red Butte for us now! Can't complain about that. </div>

I got married at Storm Mountain Ampitheater and then had our reception at Spruces. It was very pretty, rustic, and affordable. The Park Rangers were amazing to work with... we had no problem bringing in a caterer, DJ and etc. It was a lot of fun and we got a ton of compliments. Amazing views and amazing pictures!

    Another place I considered was
Millicent Chalet in Big Cottonwood Canyon

There was a wedding that was recently blogged on Rustic Wedding Chic that was held at Wastach Mountain Club Lodge. I only looked at pics online when I was planning and wasn't impressed but this gal's pics made it look amazing.. maybe worth checking out in person.

I have been to a wedding at Rose Sachs/ Louland and it was very pretty. Good Luck!
  • We are also looking at Red Butte Gardens. Very affordable (in comparison)
A lot of the state parks will grant a permit for weddings. My best friend got married in Arches a couple years ago under the Sand Dune Arch. It was AMAZING. (small wedding though, very intimate). Have you called Red Butte? They will want you to schedule an appoitnment with the wedding coordinator. I'm calling today.
  • I would recommend Kelley Creek Farms in Huntsville.  It's not too far from SLC and has a GORGEOUS view.  Contact Patsy and tell her Trevor from Opus Productions sent you.

  • I had my reception at the Spruces. It was awesome because I was able to pick every detail rather than being stuck with a certain caterer

I am planning a Storm Mountain ceremony and Spruces Reception.  I was really excited about Millcreek, Log Haven and Red Butte until I saw the prices! I wanted to stay under 5K and that wasn't going to happen at any of those venues.

These venues will give me way more flexibility and reduce the cost a ton!!  There are great blog photos from each site which is what sold me.  I found a caterer that has worked the Spruces before and knows more about the site than I do.
  • what is the website for spruces, I can't seem to find it
  • The Benson Grist Mill in Tooele is pretty.

Which caterer did you use? I am leaning toward Cuisine Unlimited but not sure.
  • If you are having a smaller wedding (50ish guests) then Millcreek Inn is affordable and rustic. It wasn't for me, but it sounds like it may be what you're looking for.
