weird jewelry question: yellow gold and white gold together??

So my mom got out the old jewelry that we have inherited and are kind of considered family heirlooms, and there is an absolutely STUNNING pair of massive blue diamond earrings. I about fainted when I saw them. The only problem is....they are yellow gold.  My rings are white gold, and I typically just wear silver jewelry. These earrings are so stunning, though, it would be a shame not to wear them....

What do you guys think? Should I wear them even though they are the wrong kind of gold? would it look weird or clash with my other jewelry?  Why is picking out wedding accessories so gosh darn difficult?

Is there a lot of yellow gold on them? I have a pair of diamond studs and the amount of metal on them is minimal. That being said, I refuse to wear yellow and white gold together, I just don't like the combination. I'm a white gold/silver girl all the way (although I don't have the option to wear any stunning yellow gold, so maybe my opinion would change then). I think it also depends on how "yellow" they are. I've seen some jewelry where the color is more pronounced and obvious, if that makes sense.

I don't mind mixing metals, actually. I think it would look fine. How much yellow gold is in the earrings? Is it just set in yellow gold? If so, it'll be barely noticeable so it won't be an issue.

If you love them but hate the yellow gold, you could always have them set in white gold instead, alhough I'm not sure how intricate the design is.

I think it will be fine if the yellow gold is at a minimum on the earrings. It'd be easier to tell with a picture. I personally wear diamond earrings almost everyday and they are yellow gold. My E-Ring and most of the necklaces I wear are white gold and I never find that they clash.

thanks for the feedback ladies...the only picture that I have is a cell phone picture that is so blurry, it is hardly worth sharing haha. They are basically drop diamond solitaires...I guess that doesnt make sense. The gold is just the backing on them, they are big blue diamonds,  and they drop about a half inch down from the earlobe. I will have to try them on when I am at my parent's so I can show a real picture of them.  The gold is not super prominent so I doubt too many people would even notice the difference in metals...

I think you'll be fine then. The only person that will be that close to you for any extended period of time will be your FI (husband!), and he won't care. Guests that come up to you will be gushing over your dress and how beautiful you look :)

If it's a small amount of yellow then wear them

My E-ring is yellow gold with the diamonds set in white gold. My wedding band will also be yellow gold. However, most other jewelry I wear is white gold or silver. I don't think anyone will notice or care if your earrings are set in yellow gold while everything else you have is white gold. Wear them if you love them and want to wear them!
