I'm getting my passport soon...Well, sending in the application and what not. Is it okay to travel out of the country if the name on my license and passport don't match. We're most likely not taking a honeymoon right away, probably a month after or so.
Re: Changing your name...Passport?
If you are applying for a passport now, I assume that means you are applying for it under your maiden name. It will likely take more than a month from your wedding day to be able to change your name on your passport, so if you are booking a HM out of the country a month afterwards, you will need to book all of your tickets in your maiden name so that it matches your passport.
Once you get back from your HM a month after your wedding; you should have your marriage certificate and can start on the name change process for everything (since your passport is being issued -it sounds like- and your name change shortly after, you'll be able to renew your passport with your married name right after your name change for $0)

either way you can't get either in your married name iwthout the official marriage cert and then the wait for the upgraded document AFTER the wedding so unless you have a minimum of 6 weeks after the wdding before HM your license and passport will both show your maiden name. so get your passport within a few months of the HM, book all in maiden name, travel in maiden name, return and change passport to married name for free iwthin a year of passport issuance.
I didn't even think about it, really.
We're getting married April 7, 2012 and we are honeymooning May 31st for 10 days to Italy. We're booking my ticket in my maiden name, so I suppose I will just hold off on official name change stuff until after the honeymoon (although I am pretty excited to officially change it!)
From my experience though, if you have a passport while traveling out of the country, they don't ask for a 2nd form of ID. So, even if your DL has your married name on it and the passport the old name, you should be ok. Additionally - I'm sure airport security has seen these situations before so if you do change it, make sure to bring a copy of your marriage certificate with you too.
