Secrets Maroma Beach

Anyone been to Secrets Maroma Beach in the Mayan Riviera?  Read some good reviews about it and it's supposed to have a nice beach.  I'd love some first hand reviews!  Thanks!

I'm piggybacking this post. FI and I are torn between secrets maroma and sandals montego bay. What is around secrets? I thought i read something about it being close to chichen itza and other ruins but i can't find that site now!

Can't say firsthand but I've been researching HMs for the past 3 months now everywhere in the Caribbean and the second I saw Secrets Maroma I knew that was where we were going.  You just get so much for your money at a beautiful resort and one of the best beaches in Mexico.  We're booking tonight!

I havent been but I have a friend who raves about secrets maroma all the time.  I think they have gone 3 times already.

We are going for our HM in July and are so excited!  A great way to get a good feel for it is to Google/YouTube it and look at the videos uploaded by non travel agents.  Even people's normal vacation videos make it look beautiful!  We were between about 4-5 other resorts in the Riviera Maya/Cancun vacinity, and out travel agent said that Secrets Maroma beach is the "creme de la creme" of the all inclusives in that area.

ladies...this is where we Honeymooned in April!  It was amazing.  We did a swim out suite.  I wish I was there now!  We got a great deal.  The beach is fabulous, worth the price as we were toying around with Excellence vs Secrets. 
Couple of things, bring bug spray...mosquitos are a bit rough (anywhere in the RM) and we also splurged for the private transfers as the other stopped at other hotels along the way.  This made it very special.  I also loved my TA-Jennifer at VIP Vacations, so check with my gal as she got an even better price than I found just about where ever I looked.

Thanks so much!  Currently our top 2 favorite resorts are Secrets Maroma and Sandals Grande St. Lucia - similar in price and activities, although Sandals includes scuba diving.

How much are excursions at Secrets?  Or diving, for that matter?  Sandals has it all listed on their website but Secrets does not.  Supposedly Maroma Beach is next to a really awesome reef...

Oh, and did you ever feel unsafe because of the current political climate in Mexico?  I was last in the RM in May 2007 and it was great, but a lot has changed since then and the idea of Mexico does make me a tad nervous, although the RM is outside of the danger zone.
