cheap honeymoon?

Okay the deal is that me and fi want to go to a southern beachy area in florida for 5 nights... We are driving so airfaire doesnt count....

Any ideas with a 2000 budget????

He wanted Keys type thing but that would be double budget... So now coming up with other ideas...

  • You could try the Clearwater area on the Gulf Coast. You'd probably fly into Tampa and then drive (about 45 min if I remember correctly). I haven't been there for years, but would always go with my family and they had pretty beaches, and it was just a cute area in general.

  • Clearwater is very pretty.  I'd recommend staying at least one evening for their street festival at Pier 60.

  • Every beach area in Florida has a different "feel." What are you looking for? Romantic? Quiet? Low key? Nightlife? Water activities?
  • Sanibel Island, off the Ft Meyers area (Gulf side) is fabulous! The beach is covered in broken shells, looks like Mother of Pearl. It's very tropical.
  • My family just booked a Cozumel AI vacation for 7 days for under 2,000. Check with bookit.com :-)
  • If you're coming to FL, the quieter beaches are on the gulf side (west coast) I love Venice beach and i've heard that sarasota is super nice as well. I'm on the east coast of FL we have south beach, ft, lauderdale beach, etc that have a more spring break-y feel.
