My fiance and I have NO idea where to go on our honeymoon.
We will go for about a week in August.
We mostly want to relax and enjoy the sun.
We'd also like a little bit of adventure or sightseeing.
We are working with 5-6,000. (or somewhere with a great Hilton--we have points)
Any suggestions??

<div>I don't know what the prices are anymore, like for travelling privately, but I know that I paid less than $5000 for a school trip to Italy / France / Monaco. I would definitely recommend Venice and Florence, if nothing else.</div>
Hope that helps!

We just got back from Exuma, one of the Family Islands of the Bahamas. The beaches are practically deserted, the water is so blue it looks like a postcard, we went scuba dving, snorkeling, kayaking. No Hilton but there is a Sandels at the north end of the island.

[QUOTE]How many Hilton points do you have? You could possibly make it to Moorea (maybe Bora Bora- it would be tight) if your points would cover most of your hotel stay. Airfare will run you about $1200/person, but you can take a ferry to Moorea to keep costs down. August is their high season, so no worries about hurricanes or cyclones. I love the Hilton in Moorea. Best snorkeling from a hotel I've ever seen, except for maybe along the Barrier Reef! Speaking of, there is Hilton in Cairns, which is a great jumping off point to see the Reef. Air would be expensive but Cairns has a lot of restaurants within walking distance of the Hilton. We just stayed there in August. It's before the jellies come out and it gets super hot, too! There is also a Hilton in Port Denarau Fiji. Your money will take you further once you are there. Air will run about $900/person. You can take day trips from there to snorkel the outer islands or go rafting. The Hilton also as properties in the Maldives an Seychelles, but it's a LONG flight for a week and the air will eat away most of your budget unless you can find a deal. Hope that helps!

FYI -- airfare is actually closer to $1600 for Tahiti (where you will have to fly into) and you have to factor in that you will need a full day to fly there and fly back, even from the mid-west. With only a weeks vacation, I don't know if I would recommend this or anywhere that is going to take a day to fly there.

I've been to Tahiti 5 times and have never paid $1600/person for tickets. I can see maybe paying that if you waited to book. Or unless you are counting your domestic airfare in there then yes, it can be $1600. I always think of price in terms of international flights from LAX. I've also been for around a week's time 3 of the 5 times I've been. However, I do fly from Phoenix, so it does make a little difference. So, I would have the OP keep their mind open.
