Martha's Vineyard Honeymoon

Hello brides,
I was just wondering if anyone knows of nice places to stay in Martha's Vineyard? My fiance and I want to take a short honeymoon to somewhere nearby and Martha's Vineyard was one of our choices. Or if not Martha's Vineyard any ideas for nice places on the cape?
Thanks!!!

Re: Martha's Vineyard Honeymoon

  • Check out the Hob Knob on the Vineyard, I sent my parents there on their 35th wedding anniversary and they loved it! Also, will be going there this Summer with some of my friends for a girls weekend. The breakfasts are included and amazing but  you should still check out the Black Dog restaurant for pancakes.

  • We went their for a 2 day  minimoon after our wedding. A lot of people told us to stay in Edgartown, which we did and really enjoyed. We stayed at the Clarion there, as most other places where either already booked and really expensive. Since it was only our 'minimoon' and we had an expensive honeymoon coming up soon, the Clarion was fine, but if you are looking for something special, I would keep looking.

You don't mention when you are going, so I just want to point out the TONS of things close down after Columbus day. Just something to keep in mind. Also, you should post on the Cape Cod and the Islands board, people there have lots of advice.

I really liked going to MV vs staying someplace nice on the Cape. It gave it a real get-away-from-it-all feel.
  • I don't know of any hotels, since we stayed with family, but I liked Edgartown.  South Beach State Park is a great beach.  Gay Head is a very rocky beach and has a nude section.

On the Cape we always stay in Brewster.  The Bay side has fewer waves and tends to be warmer.  Provincetown is a fun day trip.

  • I only went once as a kid for family vacation, but I loved Vineyard Haven and Edgartown because they were both quieter and less crowded than many of the beaches I'd been to before. It MIGHT be worth renting a townhouse/apartment if you're going to stay a week.
  • Hello Ladies,
Thanks for all of the suggestions!!!

To Karen's MOH I should have said when we were going, just wasn't thinking, we will be headed there around August 21st so we should be all set as far as places being open I hope :)
