September HM locations

If you're getting married in September where will you be going on your HM?  I've been told its hurricane season so we're looking for ideas.

Re: September HM locations

  • We are going to Europe (London, Paris, and day trip to Bruges). The weather should be PERFECT in September for walking around outside all day =]
  • September is a great month to visit Europe (maybe with the exception of Scandinavia... we were in Norway during Sept and it was freezing).

  • If you want something in the US, the San Diego (Coronado Bay) /LA area, plus northern California are great.
  • What about Hawai? How's the wheather there in september? Do the hurricanes affect all of the caribics? We were thinking about going to the dominican republic or bamudas in september.

PS: Be aware: usually September is really nice in Europe in september, but in 2010 we had fairly chilly temperatures in Europe. especially London can be cold. At least pack long pants and a warmer sweatshirt.
  • The western side of Mexico is generally safe from hurricanes, which is why we chose Cabo.  I think Peurto Vallarta and Cancun are also on the Western side.  No place is 100% safe from natural disasters, though, so if your heart is set on somewhere in, say, the Carribean, book it and get trip insurance.

  • puerto villarta is on the west coast of mexico. cancun and riviera maya are on the EAST side. the west coast of mexico's hurricane season (including hawaii) runs until mid october.
yes-bahamas are in the caribbean hurricane area. that goes until nov. 1.
    what's a  caribics?

  • We also did Europe.  We went to Iceland, Netherlands, Italy and Dublin and had pretty nice weather and few crowds everywhere we went.

Okay, I was wong about PV.  Even though it's hurricane season, the West coast is generally less prone to hurricanes than the East coast.  We still got trip insurance, just in case.

For the record  hurricanes would not keep me from traveling there or anywhere in the  Caribbean or Mexico.

But the fact still remains Hawaii was effected by a hurricane (either by direct or indirect hits) 9 times since 2000.

Which btw the  is about the same if not more than St Thomas has seen during the same  period or time.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
