Help! Need to find the perfect resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico!

We are trying to find a great resort for our honeymoon! We want to go to the Riviera Maya area of Mexico. We would be willing to stay in Playa del Carmen and also south of there all the way down to Tulum. I thought I had found the perfect resort, but read that it's basically a wedding factory with kids everywhere! Even in the swim up bar! That's not my idea of R&R on our honeymoon. I was thinking adult only might be a good idea, but we are not interested in nude beaches or anything like that. We were planning to go the last week of November in 2010. I know hurricane season stretches through November, do you think this is too risky? All inclusive would be great also! Any help or information would be appreciated! Thanks!

I went to Secrets Maroma Beach last September for FH's birthday - it was unbelievable!  Adult only, all inclusive (including wine, beer, top shelf liquor), best beach in all of Mexico!  5-stars, amazing spa... loved every minute of it!  I booked the trip through cheapcaribbean.com which I highly recommend for a great deal - they even threw in coupons we used at the spa!!!

I am going to Playacar Palace! It is all inclusive and it has a ton of activities and great food! It is a very beautiful place! You can go snorkeling or horseback riding and even see the Mayan Temples! There are nightly shows that you can see that are supposedly very great! Another advantage is that it is very close to shopping and nightlife, but yet it is a very quiet resort. The resort is focused on adults and not children! I would suggest you research it!

We're going to The Royal Playa del Carmen. It looks like a gorgeous resort with great all-inclusive amenities. IMO it's definitely worth looking into.

And about the hurricane risk - we are taking the leap and going the first full week of September. That's pretty peak time for hurricanes, but we got insurance so if we have to cancel, we won't be out all that money.

Royal Playa del Carmen- adults only, all inclusive.  I've only stayed at their Cancun resort but it was phenomenal and I've heard similar reviews about PDC!

We had our DW at El Dorado Royale in Riviera Maya and could not have chosen a better resort. It had everything romance, all inclusive,best food and top shelf drinks. It was close enough to Playa del Carmen so we all went as a group one evening and it was a great time. Our TA Nancy from www.myislandgetaways.com suggested and handled our whole wedding party and gave us great perks. The casita is the best room to stay in...we had our own outdoor private shower.

Wow!  It seems like you have done your research.  One resort that I think would be perfect for your honeymoon is Secrets Capri.  It’s located five minutes away from downtown Playa del Carmen, on a gorgeous beach.  It is a small, intimate resort – approximately 300 rooms.  One of my favorite things about the resort is the Spa by Pevonia.  You and your FI have to try their Swedish message; it’s the best.  The food is also awesome at Secrets.  I’ve never been to a resort that had such a wide selection of food!  My favorite restaurant was Himitsu -  Asian fusion food -  it is delicious.  I hope you have a great honeymoon!

We are going to the Grand Palladium... My FI's parents had gone a couple of years ago and it is amazing.  I attached a picture of the little hut we are staying in.  It is all-inclusive and for a really great price.

we are going to the adventura spa palace... our travel agent booked it for us and it looks AMAZING.. the amenities are fabulous... its definately worth checking out..

plus, we are wedding twins!!!! when are you guys leaving?  We will be leaving the day after..would be fun to already know someone at the resort!!!

Thanks for the great suggestions everyone! We really like the Royal Playa del Carmen and are seriously considering that resort. That's awesome that we are wedding twins! We won't be going on our honeymoon until November just because we want to be home to enjoy the Alaskan summer. We would rather go somewhere warm when it's cold and snowy at home!

I will second all of the suggestions for the Royal in Playa del Carmen.  We just got back from our honeymoon over new year's @ the Royal.  It is a beautiful resort & they take very good care of you.  It's all inclusive, adults only.  On the first night & on a night during the week our room was decorated with rose petals & little desserts.  The pool is always clear and beautiful but is a little cold.  If you want to swim the ocean is warmer and the water is very clear.  They have waiters & waitresses at the pool & beach that are always quick to bring you drinks.  The food is fantastic also.  I would recommend a reservation at the Chef's plate!  The shows at night are ok, alot of dancing. But the location is great in town & a quick ride to any tourist attractions. It's a perfect place to relax on a honeymoon.

We stayed at the Royal Hideaway and it was AMAZING!  Adult only, all inclusive, amazing food, great beach.  I could go on and on.  We loved it!
