I need ideas...

I have in my mind this very wonderful honeymoon location, I just have to find it in real life and I need some help.I am thinking beachfront and VERY private, like personal, small, somewhat secluded villas.  I'm not big on crowds and neither one of us have more than a glass of wine... really ... ever, so we arent' looking for a big party spot.  Just the opposite, in fact.   We want to be able to go parasailing and do all sorts of outdoor things, but also a lot of lounging, and bed around midnight without having to worry about being woken up by loud people in the pool off the balcony. All inclusive would be preferred, and as close as we can get to UNDER $5000 for a week stay.No idea is a dumb idea!  Let me know your thoughts!!!Thanks!Ansley

Re: I need ideas...

  • The mexican riviera has private villas. A friend of mine went for his honeymoon and said it was the most romanitc, beautiful place he'd ever been and would go again in a second. Also, check out turks and caicos. We are going in March with friends, we've rented a private villa that houses 3 couples... but they have private villas for two as well.I think Mexican Riviera can accomodate your budget.. .and Turks also as it's not an over populated tourist area yet.. very beautiful!
  • How about Fiji? It's a long trip, but has the private secluded resorts/villas you're looking for. The Fijian dollar is very weak compared to the US dollar right now, so it's actually more affordable than one would think. 7 nights at a 5 star is going to cost us a little over your budget, but we are splurging since we're eloping. You could definitely do it more affordably. Right away, this place comes to mind: http://www.matangiisland.com/index.php You can have your own little bure (hut), beachfront or oceanfront. The treehouses look awesome too, but run a little pricier. Most of the resorts in Fiji I've checked out include all of your meals, but not alcohol. Since you aren't big drinkers (neither are we,) I doubt you'll mind. I don't know that you'd be able to parasail, but there's a lot of watersports (snorkeling, diving, cat sailing, etc.)

  • check out the British Virgin Islands
  • We're going to the Northwest Pacific in Costa Rica. One of our favorite resorts when we were looking was the Paradisus Playa Conchal. We would have booked it, but we had a budget setback and could no longer afford all-inclusive. I'm not sure if you can go parasailing, but I know you can go sailing at several resorts in Costa Rica.
  • You might want to look into Sanibel Island in FL or Key West too!
  • You are going to love this Ansley! Check out Roatan, Honduras. A short 3+ hour flight from Atlanta, an inexpensive island that is quite private, good activities (best scuba in the Carribean and snorkeling off the beach). Here is where we are staying for $100/nt through VRBO.com. www.infinitybay.comI am not the resort type person. We like private, small, personal too. Go to TripAdvisor and read about different places there... some really neat villa type places.
  • From what you have described I think Zoetry Paraiso De La Bonita is the perfect resort for your honeymoon. It is a very intimate resort, only 90 suites, and it is an all-inclusive. It’s located on a beautiful beach and the resort offers so much to do. Some favorites include snorkeling, hobie cats, windsurfing, kayaks and free golf a Playa Mujeres Golf Club. They also have a freshwater and salt-water pool, with waiters at both pools so you never have to move a muscle. The food is amazing at any of their four gourmet restaurants and no reservations are required. By far the best thing about Zoetry (and what it is most known for) is its spa. They have so many different treatments to choose from, I was there everyday! I recently heard that they are opening two new Zoetry resorts – some even smaller than Zoetry Paraiso De La Bonita. I believe one is going to be in Los Cabos and the other in the Dominican Republic. I hope you enjoy your honeymoon, let me know if you have any more questions!
  • My fiance and I are the same, we are doing this tour, it's in AUD http://www.awesomefiji.com/longpack-tropical-awegasm.aspx they also have a small 7 day tour thing as well...there are a few options on the site and maybe some more ideas for you if you don't like the idea of a tour.HTH
  • You sound exactly like my fiance and I!  We are going to the Matachica resort in Belize.  It is super private, and they have casitas with thatched roofs that are 50 feet from the ocean.  From what I have read, it is mostly honeymooners or couples and very few kids.  It is off the beaten path from San Pedro, so not a party place, but very relaxing.  They also have a great honeymoon package that is not quite all inclusive, but includes breakfast, dinner, massages and two excursions.  I think its about $3800 for 8 days in the low season.  Also a very easy flight from the U.S. (it is about 2.5 hours from Houston, where we are from).Hope this helps!
  • La Samana in St. Martin is beautiful.  Quite and relaxing.  We stayed in a beachfront villa that had a great patio and roof deck.  The resturants on the island are great too!  Also it's a quick flight.
  • We'll be staying in a private ocean front villa at Nail Bay Island in the BVIs for a week. It has private infinity pool, beach access, a chef comes in one night to cook for you, they give you a jeep to use, and an in-villa couples massage. It is a great combo of relaxation and sightseeing/water activities. GL!
  • BoraBora, it's the most beautiful place ever an private!  We stayed at the PearlBeach resort and loved it!  Check it out!
  • My friends went to Tortola and had a VERY private honeymoon. You should Google it and see what you can find. If you want more info/pictures, contact me: mizu22@gmail.com. I think that this is exactly what you're looking for!!
  • also, we went to sandals and had a great time. you can make it private, and it's not loud at night. it was awesome and can be exactly what you want, you would just have to try a little harder. get a butler...that would help :)
  • We went to Costa Rica as well. We stayed at a small resort called Bahia del Sol in Playa Portrero. It's a small black sand beach. A short walk to the next towns along the beach is perfect for surfing, snorkeling, 4-wheeling, etc. The hotel's bar closes at 10pm so the nights are quiet and relaxed. The resort itself is not an all inclusive (i like eating local) but we got a great deal for the week and everything was so cheap in Costa Rica that it was almost cheaper for us NOT to do an all inclusive. I'm glad we didn't go that route. We also had 2 day trips where we rode horses, zip lined through the canopy of the rainforest surrounding Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, relaxed in hot springs, hiked in the rainforest at Arenal, lovely romantic dinners, and we got to see lava come out of Arenal Volcano at night before they brought us home. I absolutely recommend Costa Rica for a honeymoon on a budget! GL!

  • We are going to St. Croix in the Virgin Islands, Every review I've read has said that the majority of the time they had the beach to themselves.  But if you do go there stay at the Carambola Beach resort, they have a private beach and there is absolutely no cell phone service on that side of the island (I was excited about this, as my mom feels the need to call me 3 times a day when i live 15 minutes from her)  I've heard a lot of good things.
  • Vieques! Its such a small island and is very secluded you can even check out Bio Bay which is a part of the ocean that glows because of the algae and is still safe to swim. The FI and I are planning on going there :D
  • We are going to a place in St. Vincent and the Grenadines called Petit St. Vincent. It is its own island with 22 bungalows. I think it is just under $5000 for 7 nights for the honeymoon special, all inclusive (except alcohol, but that shouldn't be a problem). It doesn't have parasailing, but it does have tennis, deep sea fishing, scuba, sailing and kayaking. It looks awesome, I've been wanting to go for years!check it out www.psvresort.com
  • Maybe check out St Lucia. We stopped there on a Caribbean cruise in January and absolutely fell in love. Granted we were only there for one day, but it was fantastic. It's gorgeous and seems to have about everything you might want - you can do all kinds of activities in the outdoors (seriously, it's GORGEOUS) and it seems to be a very laid back place. Maybe check out tripadvisor.com (shows hotels and allinclusives) or vrbo.com (private vacation rentals). Good luck!

  • My parents have been to this SUPER private and not very bust all inclusive on St. Johns. I know the price is right too. I think that would be the best spot for you.
  • Divi Aruba.  all inclusive and my coworkers say it is pretty private.  we are going for the week for under three thousand airfare and all.  Everyone seems to say it is the best vaca they have ever been on.  I think they have private villas but the place is two floors rright on the ocean  with private patio or balcony.

  • We are also going to Matachica in Belize! We love it because it has a lot of privacy and very high ratings on TripAdvisor.com. We like that we can go on adventures but also relax on the beach with a cocktail. Matachica also has a Cinnebar...they show movies and serve you food and drinks!
