Napa Valley?

FI and I were thinking that Napa would be a neat area to go. We are only going to take a week and save for a big Europe trip later. Does anyone have any hotel/spa recommendations or restaurants? Thanks!

Re: Napa Valley?

  • We're going to Napa too, so I'm curious to see what people come up with.  Right now we're most excited about a sunrise hot air balloon ride that we planned.

  • If you can afford a major splurge, I would recommend Auberge du Soleil. The grounds are gorgeous!! If you don't stay there, I would definitely put it on the list of places to eat. We had lunch there and the food is fantastic, as are the views of the valley. We considered having our wedding there. Another great restaurant is the Girl and the Fig. Yummy brunch, good dinner. We stayed at the Fairmont Sonoma Inn and Spa. I don't recommend it. It was overpriced for the rooms IMO and there wasn't anything special about the place. I've heard great things about Meritage. A friend of mine stayed at the Kenwood Inn and Spa for her honeymoon and raves about it. I would definitely stay there based on their pictures and everything she said! Make sure you go to Frog's Leap winery!

  • I second the Frogs Leap Winery- Free tastings, great people, organic wine, and an overall amazing place!
  • (I never post here- but just book our honeymoon to St Lucia, so, thought I'd help out) My FI and I just got back last month from Napa.  We are BIG wine-os and LOVED the trip.  This website (http://www.napatouristguide.com/) truly helped us.  Tons of winery coupons, too ( I Love coupons) We landed on a buy 2 nites, get 1 free at the River Terrace Inn (http://www.riverterraceinn.com )- awesome breakfast (their muffins ROCK) and a great, quaint hotel, that won't break the bank.  Would totally stay there again.Faves in Napa-  Rutherford Grill (no corkage fee and FAB FOOD.  I ordered a caesar salad with chicken-- I'm STILL dreaming of it!!!) http://www.hillstone.com/#/restaurants/rutherfordGrill/- owned by the Houston's fam of rest - which is my fave.  Coles Chophouse- very well reccommended by the locals.  http://www.coleschophouse.com- great foodFave wineries-* Hess- great wines, great smelling candles, and art at the winery* Elizabeth Spencer (small, quaint) and across the street from Rutherford Grill.  AWESOME CABS.  Tell Allison and Ashley there that wine club members Amy and Matt from Dallas say Hi.* Shaffer- $40 each for a tasting.  great wine dogs, awesome people, call now for reservations.  we tasted 1 white and 4 reds (including 1 wine that retails for $215+ for a bottle).  Totally worth the price, in our opinion.  * Rhombaurer- scenic and fab wines.... I hope this helps.  We LOVED our trip and wish we could afford to live there.AMY :-)
