So we are getting married on October 9th. My FMIL is paying for the honeymoon, but hasn't booked it yet. She keeps coming back with different ideas, but I am getting worried since the wedding is coming up so close. What is the benefit of a TA? How much do they cost? Any good TA's? I just think if there was someone else that tells my FMIL that is the best deal out there she will book. She thinks the closer it gets to the HM the cheaper it will be, is that true? I would think everything would be booked. We have been looking at Couples Tower Isle forever, but now she has a few other places for me to look at. Any help would be great.

Travel agents should be free. They get paid by the hotels, airlines, etc, not you. We used Jennifer from the Tropical Traveler for ours. If you wait too long, it may end up costing a fortune. Have you ever tried to book airfare with little notice? There's a period where it's cheaper, but then it gets super super pricey.

I did everything myself, we booked almost a year in advance (Sandals Antigua - 26 Days to go!) and I still haven't seen a better deal than the one we got. I didn't bother with a TA, but it may be helpful if your FMIL is dragging her feet. I would be nervous too, now is the time you should be confirming flight arrangements and tying up loose ends...

Yes I use to be a flight attendant I know how the airfare goes, but trying to explain that is my problem. I had everything for the wedding planned in 1 weekend pretty much except for the little things. I like to have everything done early, so this is just giving me something to stress about.

Travel agents should be free.  Don't use one who charges you!  I'm so thankful I decided to use a TA.  I was originally going to book myself.  But the stress was just getting to me and there was so many options and too much research for me to handle, in addition to wedding planning.  I was happy to hand the task off to someone else who could look for the best deals.  I used VIP Vacations and they price match.  If you find a better deal elsewhere, they will match it.  After the TA got back to me, I researched how much her trip would cost if I booked it myself and her price was way cheaper.By the way, I'm getting married 10/17 and still haven't finalized.  I'm just waiting for paper work now.  So I'm in a similar boat.
