Fiji vs. Italy

FI has pretty much left the choice up to me and I am really torn. We just went to Greece and Egypt a few weeks ago and that was amazing so part of me wants to go to Italy since it would be a similar type of trip (cities, lots of historical sites, some time by the beach, etc.). But, that is a really active trip so part of me thinks that maybe Fiji would be better. I love the idea of just lazing around, doing some snorkeling, eating fresh food, etc. on my HM. And, we travel a lot (this year we will have gone to Oahu, Vegas three times, Greece, Egypt, and Cancun), so it's not like we can't do Italy pretty soon. So, WDYT? Which one is better for a HM? Italy (we'd go to Rome, Florence, Cinque Terre, and Venice) or Fiji? If we do go to Fiji, we'd stay here: http://www.likulikulagoon.com/home.cfm

Re: Fiji vs. Italy

  • I think for a honeymoon you need more relaxation, and lets face it in Italy you will be running around seeing sites.  Id do Fiji.  We are in the same predicament, we want to relax and see somewhere new, while I love the Greek Isles, I want to totally relax also.  Unless you stayed put in one or 2 places in Italy, Id do Fiji.
  • We went to Fiji on our HM, but Italy was on our list for this year. (Little bit of a change of plans.) Anyway, I have PIB which may help sway you.

  • I'd do Fiji for sure.  Since you've recently been to Europe, I'd save that for another trip.  Also, it is harder to get to Fiji, so I'd rather do that on the honeymoon.
  • I would do Italy.  It is such a wonderfully romantic place.  If I had never been there I would LOVE to go to Italy for our honeymoon (we want to go somewhere new).  If you go and get a chance I would definitely see the Amalfi coast, especially Capri!!
  • I would do Fiji...especially at Liku Liku :) I've heard great things about that place!!!
  • I have to say Italy. I haven't been to Fiji but you could do Florence, Rome, Amalfi Coast and Sicily (for beaches and relaxing at the end) thereby getting in your sight-seeing and gelato fixes as well as beach time. I wasn't crazy about Venice. It was good to see as it's very unique but, given it's location in proximity to Sicily I'd probably skip it. It also depends on how much time you have for the trip.
