london recs?

Has anyone ever visited/lived in London?  Fi and I are going there on our honeymoon and we have read through so many travel guides our brains have kinda melted - looking for good recommendations for stuff to do while we are there.  Our honeymoon is in November so preferably indoors stuff, and we are boring museum types - nothing to wild & crazy :D - Also, restaurant recommendations would be awesome - we are staying in the Kensington/Knightsbridge area. TIA!

Re: london recs?

• I live in London. What are you interested in doing? You will be very close to the Science museum, which I'm not really impressed with, the Victoria and Albert, great, and The Natural History museum, also great. There is a small cupcake called The Hummingbird in South Ken that is great! There is a great little lunch places called My Bar Chelsea near the museums. If you like theatre I would go to http://www.tkts.co.uk/ to get 1/2 price tickets. The Tower of London is good, make sure you go on the Beefeater's tour. I had guest who loved the hop on hop off red bus tour. You can get all your site pictures from this tour and decide where you want to go back. Horse guard parade leads into St. James Park which backs onto Buckingham Palace. NEar there in Mayfair there is a good pub The Gunea, which is very close to Bond St which has really high end stores and Sotheby's is right there as well. One of my fav restaurant is in Covent Garden http://www.palmcourtbrasserie.co.uk The Real Greek is a chain, but pretty good, there is also Cafe Mode right near Covet Garden. I also really like walking tours, I have been on about 7 of them since I moved here, the best co is: http://www.walks.com Also check out http://tinyurl.com/yj98fvl to get 2 for 1 admission to sites such as the Tower of London, it will save you a good bit of money. Jsut print our the papers before you leave or pick up some brochures at a train station. I recommend Hampton Court Palace, it's about 35 minutes away from London, take the train from Waterloo station. Kensington Palace isn't that good. Do you only want to stay in London? Page me on Philadelphia with any questions.
• Oh try http://www.lastminute.com for night out deals.
• Ditto on the London Walks, the V&A and I'd like to add the British Museum (my fave). Also, check out the restaurant in the crypt of St. Martin-in-the-Field church. LOVE that place.
• you guys are awesome :D  - thank you for all the suggestions.  We are for sure doing the British Museum, the V&A museum, the tower of london, and Hampton Court. Natural History Museums freak me out for some random reason so we probably will skip that.  We are also going to be going to Edinburgh for one day - but no other little side trips in England.  We really just want to see as much of London as we can :D
• Also, check out the restaurant in the crypt of St. Martin-in-the-Field church. LOVE that place. Good call! I love that place too:-) Great prices as well.
• Two more suggestions....London Walks does a great tour of Westminster Abbey.  Also, if you have any interest in WWII history, the Cabinet War Rooms are well worth a visit--excellent audioguide for this museum.
• There's so much to see in London, you'll never get bored.  My favorites are:- British Museum (of course)- Tower of London- Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theater (the most amazing show I've ever seen!)- The treasures room at the British Library... They have original manuscripts from Shakespeare and other famous writers as well as illuminated manuscripts, etc.  If you appreciate history and literature, you'll love this. - The London Eye ferris wheel... it's pricey but it offers a great view of the city.

• The Imperial War Museum is INCREDIBLE. Loved that place. Definitely go to Greenwich...especially on Saturday when they have their "farmer's market." There are tons of cultural foods to try and trinkets to buy. It's beautiful and the atmosphere is really neat.Do theater! The experience is awesome. I saw 'Romeo & Juliet' in the Globe Theater, and talk about amazing!! But there are soo many other theaters to look into. 'Les Miserables' is wonderful. Also if you like eerie stuff, 'The Woman in Black' will be entertaining!Try to locate soem of the historic pubs, and do a pub crawl. We hit (walked to) 5 pubs in one night, and it was really fun and a great historic tour of London. Tower of London!
