Top 3 choices: opinions?!

My FI and I finally made our top 3 list for honeymoon places last night. We're using FMIL's timeshare so we wanted to have more than one option for her in case our #1 choice wasn't available. Any feedback on our choices would be greatly appreciated!!1. Tortola (Long Bay Beach Resort)2. Curacao (Lodge Kura Hulanda)3. Antigua (St. James Club)TIA!!

Re: Top 3 choices: opinions?!

  • curacao! it's my favorite island!

  • We just got back from the BVI and although we did not stay on Tortola we visited and DH and I both hated it.
  • I love the BVI's.   I can see Tortola from my balcony. I have not been to the other places, but I here they are nice.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Just to clairfy I loved the BVI just was not so fond of Tortola :)
  • I stayed at the St. James club about 10 years ago.  It was lovely, but we found Antigua a little boring.  I was there with my parents and brothers, though :)
  • I went to both Tortola and Antigua this year in March. I found the water in Tortola absolutely gorgeous and the views amazing, not much to do on just Tortola but you can hop on a boat and visit all of the BVI so that is an awesome thing. Antigua was amazing and beautiful also but seemed more crowded. I loved Tortola and can't wait to go back.
  • We just stayed at the Sandals in Antigua and ABSOLUTELY loved it!! There was so many activities to do all week. We met some really fun people and had a blast!! The food was amazing, and the resort was beautiful!! I would go back in a heartbeat!! Sandals did an amazing job!!

  • I vote #3- Antigua!
  • I Would go for Tortola. I have spoken to many people that have gone there , and they would go back. You can visit other islands while you are there. But the romance of it would be great for your honeymoon! Good Luck!
  • we went to antigua (sandals) and LOVED it. it was beautiful and the atmosphere was so laid back. just what we needed after al the stress!! if you pick antigua, you will not be let down!!
  • LOVE Tortola! Been there a few times! Dying to go back!
  • My vote is Tortola, it is so beautiful and you can visit the other BVI's or even the USVI's (St. John, St. Thomas), if you want.  It is romantic and so beautiful!
  • You may want to check on weather for the time of year that you are going.  My fiance and I were all set for a cruise to a specific island - until our travel agent informed us that it was during the peak of hurricane season.  We decided to change our route to be safe.  Congratulations!
  • We were just in Antigua this spring and I have to say that it was beautiful but not very much to do.  I would def go with one of your other two choices.
  • Great choices! Did you see the latest Travel & Leisure magazine? (November 2009 issue) The cover article is on the Caribbean, focusing on Curacao and Antigua! They have a piece in there, too on BVI.Maybe this issue of the mag will help you make your final choice. Wherever you go, you'll undoubtedly have the time of your life!! :)
