Thinking Chicago

We are thinking about going to chicago for our honeymoon. I don't have my passport, even though I will probably get it soon. AND we can't really afford to fly anywhere tropical. Thoughts?

We are driving to Chicago. Se we dont have to worry about a flight.

I am also thinking about Chicago so personally I think it is a great idea. My fiance and I were thinking of doing a weeklong stay at an AI in Mexico but have so many other trips we want to go on in the next year we decided to do a couple small ones instead! We are pricing our trip through hotwire.com and I am actually surprised at how good the prices are. Like any other trip it can be as cheap or as expensive as you make. We plan on kind of mapping out places we want to eat at/see from suggestions from other knotties and suggested places from tripadvisor so we know how much to expect when we get there.

 Another knottie suggested this site to me....www.citypass.com/chicago which looks like it could save a lot of money is you plan on doing a lot of sight seeing! When are you planning on going to Chicago?

I went to Chicago for a mini 3 night vacation.  We didn't eat anywhere fancy, but I was blown away at how much money we went through in 3 days - and I'm from Boston - another expensive city.  We did go to a blackhawks game and I picked up a few souveniers, but I think we spent over $1000 in 3 days - not including air or hotel.  I did love it there, but it definitely was not a cheap trip.

I should mention we tend to drink a lot of vacation... that is costly. Haha.
