Cruise or Atlantis in the Bahamas?

Has anyone been to Atlantis? (Either the one in Dubai or the Bahamas) We're considering doing one of the resorts instead of a cruise. Airfare is free, cousin works for Delta.

Also for those that have done either, what are the pro's and con's?
I know food is included on a cruise, which would be more affordable.

Has anyone been to both Atlantis resorts? How's the waterparks there?

I've been to the Atlantis in the Bahamas. It was a really fun trip but the resort is crawling with kids and families. If you don't mind that then I'd definitly reccomend it but if you would prefer a more romantic/relaxing honeymoon...you might not get it there. It would also be way more expensive because nothing is included. You have to pay for everything separately. It's definitly a super nice resort though!

If your airfare is free (how cool is that!?), I would definitely be going to Dubai!  That will normally cost a lot for airfare and just sounds more exotic in my opinion - much more memorable for a honeymoon.  It's much easier to visit the Caribbean in the future.  PLUS, with the money you save on airfare, maybe you and your FI can splurge on one of those underwater rooms...those look fantastic!

I think I'd be inclined to go with Dubai too of the three options.  I've been on cruises and to Atlantis in the Bahamas.  Haven't been to Dubai but that sounds like a once in a lifetime trip.

As far as cruise versus Atlantis Bahamas, you could do both; many cruises stop at Atlantis.  The issue I have with cruises is the booze prices, if you drink, that could end up being more than the cost of the cruise, even soda is crazy if you don't haul your own on.  It's also hard to have any real honeymoon alone time on a cruise since there's always people everywhere if you step out of the room, and I don't find cruise ship rooms particularly romantic.  I do like NCL cruises so I can eat when I want.

If you just do Atlantis, you can stay at the Cove to not have to deal with people running around everywhere all the time, it's more secluded, but the annoying part is having to catch rides back and forth to the main building to do things like clubs, restaurants, casino, etc.  I really like the resort though, it can be a lot of fun, but if air travel is free, I'd go with Dubai instead. :-)

Ditto pp's since your airfare is free (how awesome is that!?) I would hands down pick Dubai. You can do the Caribbean or go on a cruise anytime, going to Dubai would be such a memorable HM and experience.

    dubai because air is free.
    i do love cruising though.
i hated atlantis in the bahamas!!! over-priced, teeming with kids, serivce was blah. not sure if hte atlantis in dubai is the same way. i'd probably stay elsewhere there.

We've done both a Carib. cruise multiple times and the Atlantis in the Bahamas. The Atlantis was wonderful and we would def. love to go back, we like a cruise because we get to see more islands. HOWEVER, if you had free airfare and a chance to go to the Atlantis in Dubai, I would JUMP ON THAT!!! It looks amazing!!

FI and I are going to the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas next month.  I cannot wait.  I have read amazing reviews about the resort and the waterpark.  The waterpark was a huge attraction for both of us.  We are staying at the Cove, so we are going to be a little but out of the way as far as kids go, but it doesn't bother me that there will be kids around. I think Dubai would be a great option for you!!  have fun!!

My only advice is that whatever you do, make it all inclusive!  I know the Atlantis in the Bahamas is not all inclusive (don't know about the one in Dubai).  In the Bahamas, you can stay at an all inclusive resort and have a day trip to the Atlantis.  That way you can still experience the Atlantis, but for the majority of the trip you will not have to pay for food or drink.
