Cruise or AI?

My FI has never been on a cruise- I love cruising, but we are getting married August 25, 2012 and I am worried a lot of kids will be on the cruise (we are getting married in NJ and will cruise from NY). It definitely seems like the most bang for the buck since we don't have to fly anywhere.

IS anyone else cruising for their HM? Or has anyone else cruised for their HM?

We did go to Dreams in Cancun in April (and loved it), so have done the AI before... we also were just in Aruba in November (he has a timeshare there), so that wouldn't be one of our destinations.

Thoughts and opinions please? TIA

Re: Cruise or AI?

  • I feel like if kids are a big deal for you, look for an adults only AI somewhere. I mean, it'll be your HM so I don't think it'll be just another vacation to the Caribbean. FI and I were going to cruise for our HM but he "doesn't like the idea of being trapped on a boat with a ton of other people" (his words lol) so we're looking into AIs in Mexico. =)
  • We looked into a cruise until we talked with several of our friends. You will be on a boat with about a thousand people, where are you going to get a nice private moment alone? Dinner you will be seated with other couples all week long.

The more we thought about it, the more we realised an AI was definitely more our style. So we picked an adult only one too! :) Might as well right?

  • THe more we talk about it the more we realize that we do want to cruise... just maybe not for HM.

Now we are thinking one of the Couples resorts or another AI that is couples only :) Thanks for helping us with that decision!
  • One bad thing about cruises is that your bar bill isn't included so you can wind up with a big bill (depending on how much you drink) at the end of your honeymoon.
