Punta Cana in October??

Hello brides!
My fiancé and I have done a lot of research on where to go for put honeymoon and we both agreed on iberostar grand bavero in punta Cana! The ratings are off the charts! My concern is that our honeymoon is gonna be October 7-14th and I know it's stupid to try and predict what the weather will be like in 7 months so my question to all of you is has anyone traveled to punta Cana in October? I've heard it's the rainiest month. I'm curios to know if it was still beautiful or just rainy miserable!?

Re: Punta Cana in October??

  • yes i have. it's bavaro and i stayed at that property about 13 years ago when it was a different resort name.
of course it's still beautiful. generally it rains mainly in the afternoon for a short time. i mean i've gone to places during the dry season and it rained all day for 4 days straight too.
you cannot guarantee anything. prepare for rainy days.
it's also hurricane season so you might want to purchase trip insurance to cover weather related cancellation/interruption.

  • I didn't go in October, so I'm no help there but I wanted to chime in to say IGB is absolutely as wonderful as all the ratings say it is!  We honeymooned there last May and loved it!

    Enjoy!!!  Smile

  • I haven't been to that resort or Punta Cana but if you go anywhere in the Caribbean that time of year purchase trip insurance. October is toward the end of hurricane season but it can still happen. It will probably rain really hard for about 20-30 minutes in the afternoon and then stop. Plan an afternoon nap around that time :)

We live in FL and will be headed to the Caribbean for our honeymoon in September and are getting trip insurance just in case there is a hurricane, which I doubt but you never know.

    Have fun!

  • Thanks everyone for the replies! I'm excited!
  • We went to Punta Cana (Tortuga Bay in the Punta Cana resort) in October 2010, and it was amazing.  The resort company owns the International Airport, and guarantees to have you off the plane, through customs, and on resort grounds within 15 minutes!  That was just a great prelude to a wonderful honeymoon package, complete with a luxurious couples massage, horseback rides on the beach, a romantic suite overlooking the ocean, etc etc.  I highly recommend this particular place in Punta Cana.  The weather forecast kep promising rain, but we only saw about 15 minutes of it during the whole week.  Oh, and if you go, please make sure to try some of the Punta Cana Ecological Preserve honey--it is delicious!  And please buy me some; I'm completely serious when I say I'll pay you back for any shipping expenses.  Contact me at inessa.fishman@gmail.com.  Thanks, Inessa
