Craft help!!

I'm freaking out a little. I'm trying to glue ribbon to my cupcake stand and it's not sticking. The stand is styrofoam and the tops of the tiers are coated but the sides are unfinished. I am using a clear gel craft glue. I originally had ornate braided trim, and when that wasn't sticking, I thought maybe it was just to heavy, so I'm trying to use a metallic ribbon, and that's not sticking either. Any suggestions??

glue gun you could also try double sided tape.

  • Definitely try using a glue gun. If that doesn't work, is it possible to use pins through the trim and into the styrofoam ? The pins could be placed so that they are not visible. Or you could get pins with pearl heads so that they are almost a part of the overall look. If you try pins I'd try to stick them through the top almost so they are angled downward. You could alternate pinning from the top and the bottom for better stability. Can you post a picture of the trim?
  • What about straight pins with a pearl on the end? They could push right into the foam and you can add them as close together or as far apart as you want.
  • Or use a big bottle of super glue.  I have used at least a bottle from various craft projects so far and it dries clear!

  • Try those sticky Zots in the paper craft section. Their round little dabs of sticky stuff usually on a roll.

or I like the pin idea too.
