PSA for Disney Honeymooners ~ BED BUGS in the Magic Kingdom!

Helping a co~worker find a hotel in Miami and came across this....
the following Disney resorts have reported bedbug outbreaks:

Don't want to alarm anyone or scare them into changing their plans... but just be aware!

  • This is a big problem at most hotels, not just Disney. It happens when so many different people stay in one room. Frown

    Totally.... you are 1000% correct!
I encourage anyone staying in a US hotel (unfortunately registry is not international) to go to the above site and double check to see if there have been any reports where they are staying!

Agreed! I also always check over any hotel room once I arrive before I bring in my luggage, whether its a $50 per night place or $250. This website has methods of inspecting a room for signs of bedbug infestation: http://membracid.wordpress.com/2008/09/18/how-to-inspect-your-hotel-room-for-bed-bugs/

  • I've heard little things like "don't let the bedbugs bite!" when your parents put you to sleep, but I honestly had no idea this was an actual problem in hotels. That actually makes me completely uneasy. Thank you so much for this info OP and for the link Islamorada! I just saved that link to my desktop to study for whenever we stay in hotels. haha
  • it is so true that it can be any hotel, from zero to 5 stars!

i am traveling for a week for work next week, a different city each night, ending in NYC...i'm definitely going to be checking!

  • Just because a hotel is not on that list doesn't mean it doesn't have bed bugs! You might actually be better off staying at a hotel that has been treated since they are probably very vigilant about the problem and checking to make sure the rooms are clean.

There was a bed bug problem at the big movie theater in Times Square, so it is not just hotels either!
