  • I don't have experience going to either of these places, BUT...we were between these exact two locations. How weird!

I was dead set on going to Sandals Antigua, but the flights and the reviews on Trip Advisor got me a little worried. Majestic Elegance has everything Sandals does, but we got it at half the cost with way better flight schedules and much better reviews.

We went with Majestic Elegance because it seemed like an easy decision. Hope this helps a little at least.

I don't have first hand experience either, but after quite a bit of research, we booked the Majestic Elegance for our HM.  I know there are a few on here that have as well.  Good luck with the decision, I'm sure both places would be great!
  • Pgrass: That is exactly how I feel! I think we are leaning towards ME, just because we could get an awesome room there with a butler, ocean view, etc, where as in Antigua, we would get a garden or pool view.

Do you know what activities of excursions they have at ME? I can't find it anywhere on the website.

    Thanks!

  • I don't have any experience with Sandals - but i did stay at the Majestic Elegance a little over a year ago for vacation and I loved it!  The hotel is only a couple of years old so everything is nice, new and well kept.  The beach is amazing!  We walked up and down the beach wile we were there and felt like the beach area at the ME was the best - lots of chairs, but space in between - you never felt like you were being crowded.  In terms of activities - they put on a show every night and there are several bars throughout the property.  During the day they have an ntertainment team that did different things also that you could particpate in - like games in the pool or funny contests.  Some of it is kind of cheesy, but I felt like I had the best time just relaxing at the beach or the pool and spending time with my Fiance.  There is a variety of different excursions you can book once you are there also - these are an addtional costs, but depending on what you are looking for they are worth it.  We did a snorkeling and speedboat thing - uit was fun to get off the resort one day and see some other things.  I think we ended up paying like $60 for both of us to go.  I can't speak for sandals but I had a great time at the ME and think the rates can't really be beat!
  • We were looking at a butler suite at Sandals, so it was going to be $7200 (which was the cheapest butler) and horrible flights...like overnight ones, which would have ended up costing even more!

I looked at Apple Vacations website and somehow found excursions you are able to book. We really just want to relax and drink and eat on this vacay, so I wasn't too interested in them, but we will see once we get down there. I do, however, want to do the zip-ling so I know they have that one and I think it was round $80/pp??? Not sure on the price, but I thought it was reasonable.

I also liked, how on Trip Advisor, so many people had pictures of them with the bartenders and other workers. This just seemed awesome to me because you know if they cared enough to have their pic taken with these people, that they must have had a great time and were treated really well. The staff at ME gets amazing reviews...but not so much with Sandals.

I was completely 100% going to Sandals for about 5 months, I just had this nagging feeling about it though. I feel so confident in our decision to choose ME over Sandals. Like pp said, the resort seemed much newer too. I liked all the things Sandals had to offer (spa, sushi, casino if it rains, cabanas, butler, 24 hr room service), but Sandals seemed over crowded and over priced. I feel like I've done lots of research also, if I can help you out with anything else.

  • Can't help with Sandals, just wanted to say we're going to the ME! We have a couple of friends who have been there, but theknot and tripadvisor really sealed the deal for us. Plus it was within our budget.
