We traveled to Antigua from 9/23-9/30/2012 for our honeymoon and stayed at Galley Bay Resort and Spa (which is an all-inclusive).
We absolutely loved Galley Bay, and it was the perfect place for a honeymoon. It was definitely a relatively quiet place (not a party place) but that worked out perfectly for a week of relaxation. Many of the reviews said that majority of the guests were older retiree couples, but we thought there was a really good mix. We met tons of other honeymooning young couples, and we were able to hang out with them at night, which still allowed us to have a bit of night life even at such a subdued place. We chose the ganguin cottage-style room that came with our own private dipping pool and it was perfect. Although it would have been nice to have a suite on the beach, I think the added privacy of our cottage was ideal for a honeymoon. There were lots of water activities to do at the resort (sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, etc.) which was nice because it made us feel like we didn't have to do many excursions. Some other reviews mentioned that the tide and current are very strong and it's tough to swim on the beach there, but we had no problems at all. Yes, it could be a bit rough at times but that made it fun for us. As long as you're a decent swimmer, you won't have any problems. Another thing worth mentioning: the beach is absolutely gorgeous. We've been to the Dominican before and the tide there was always washing up seaweed, but the beach in Antigua was perfectly clean and beautiful, maybe just a bit rocky in some parts. We also did a couples massage at the spa while we were there and it was excellent. The food was great, the drinks were great, and while the service was definitely on island time, most of the wait staff was always incredibly kind and friendly.
If I had to pick a downside, it would be that they do not offer room service. Another thing is that the mini fridge in your room comes stocked for free, but if you want it re-filled you have to request it (and pay for it). However, it was relatively cheap to re-stock (a few bucks for beers, waters, or sodas). So it wasn't a huge deal to us.
Overall, if you're looking to be spoiled with luxury to the nines, this place might not be for you. However, if you're looking for a laid-back, relaxing tropical paradise then I would highly recommend it.
