Any ideas or cheap deals for a Paris Honeymoon? Laughing

Re: Paris any ideas?

  • In general; go during an "off" time (not May-August.

Depending on your age, you could look for hostels that have private rooms

We'll be booking in a few months through gotoday.com or europeandestinations.com   - they sell packages that include airfare and hotel. They have very good prices.

Definitely research where in the city you'd like to stay - they automatically give you the lowest package price, but the hotels they list are all in different areas. Its a good idea to make sure that the one that's in a convenient location - be sure you're near a Metro stop so you can get around the city easily.

ETA: I agree with Mac's suggestions of what to do, but especially if you love Monet's water lilies, I'd add Musee de l'Orangerie.  I'd also add Maison Berthillon on Ile St Louis - fabulous sorbets in uncommon flavors!

Also - If you're going to a few museums, its worth it to get a museum pass (save yourself some time in lines) and make sure of what their closed days are - for example, The Louvre is closed on Tuesdays.

  • I may not have any ideas, but I lived there for a while and this is my 'go-to' list for when people email me asking for things to do/see/eat! Have fun!!!!

    Must-see's:

    - Eiffel tower

    - Arc de Triomphe / Champs Elysees area

    - Sacre-Coeur / the Marais area

    - Walk around the Seine, Jardin du Luxembourg, Palais-Royal, Notre-Dame, etc.

    Must-do's:

    - Musee du Louvre (maybe just look on the outside, it is HUGE)

    - Musee d'Orsay

    - Musee Rodin ***this is my absolute fave. it is pretty small but his sculptures are stunning and its perfect on a good weather day (part of the exhibits are in the gardens)*** http://www.musee-rodin.fr/welcome.htm

    Must-eats:

    - **L'as du falafel** this is my fave, not really sure why because it isn't like 'french' food, but it was SO good. It is in the Marais so you could hit this up, walk around this soho-like area, and then hit up Sacre Coeur and get one of the best views of Paris! http://www.lebestofparis.com/best-restaurants-in-paris/las-du-falafel

    - St. Germain has some really great places to eat too

    - Any and all places that sell macarons: Laduree (on the champs), Pierre Herme, etc. One day me and my friends went on a tour to just eat and try all the different ones which was like the best thing in my life. We didn't follow this one but this is an idea: http://gridskipper.com/archives/entries/061/61929.php

  • Would you say that the Paris Pass is worth it? We are planning on doing many things in Paris that are included on the Paris Pass and I was considering getting it.

  • Paris Pass is worth it.  We got one.

Priceline is your best friend when booking a hotel.  We ended up at the Marriott Rive Gauche for $125 per night & we could have done better if I had researched it 1st.  I had no idea what I was doing.  It is in the 11th district & you have to take the metro to get anywhere but it was an American sized room / bathroom.
