Opinions for an AI honeymoon?

We have been looking at so many hotels and resorts that things are starting to blend together. We are look for an all inclusive honeymoon. We are very open to the areas, but have mainly been looking in St. Lucia/Carribean/Mexico. We are somewhat open with budget but found Sandals to be a bit too pricey when we started looking at rooms with a view and such that we wanted. And I would definitely love to swim with the dolphins!

Any suggestions?

I've just started looking into Excellence in Punta Cana, but they have Mexico locations, too. Depending on when your honeymoon will be you can get some discounts! I think if my FI and I were to book now, it would be under $3000 for the both of us for 5 nights (including the airfare!) because we get the early bird discount or something like that. I thought that was a pretty good deal and many people seem to rave about Excellence.

I would definitely recommend the Sun Palace in Cancun, Mexico.

Lifestyles in the Dominican Repulic is great. I just went on a trip there through this site. (Mention Kathleen sent you, the should remember me ) We had such a great trip. HAve never been so relaxed. Good luck!

We stayed at Excellence for 7 nights and I feel like it was maybe $3K or $3,500.

I liked it, but my other resort experience was with this amazing 4 diamond resort in Cabo (Cabo Azul), so to me, Excellence's resort didn't really compare. The good parts of Excellence were the beach and the pool and the restaurants were pretty good.

The bad parts of Excellence included the room (was dated, shower/toilet area was tiny, bed wasn't super comfortable) and the alcohol. I don't drink beer, and the frozen drinks were either melted or watered down and the wine was just "meh".

We didn't do any excursions so I can't really comment on those, but I will say that staying at one resort for the entire week in the DR was a little much. If I were doing it again, I might have tried a couple different resorts just to break things up -- or I would do a 4 night trip to Excellence or something like that.
