Guest Book Question

For those having the ceremony and reception in different locations, where are you placing your guest book? I'm not sure if we should have it at the church or at the reception site.

Thanks and sorry for being a PW today Embarassed

Re: Guest Book Question

  • KEEP POSTING i am bored and i like it.

We are having ours at the church for people to sign as they walk in. We didn't know if there would be a spot at the reception that everyone would necessarily walk by. We might have someone bring it from the church to the reception to put by the card box or something in case some people miss it and decide to sign it??? I haven't exactly planned that out yet....
  • PW??? Hardly. :)

I want to know the answer to this too. (Sorry - that's not helpful.)

  • We are having it at the reception location as soon as you walk into the ballroom there will be a table set up along the wall.

  • I always see them at the reception.

  • We are having ours at the reception at a table between the escort cards and the gift table, so that everyone has to walk by it. :)

  • In my circle (when ceremony and reception are in two different locations) the guest book is always placed at the church, somewhere near the entrance, for you to sign as you walk in and get your program. It must just be something that is different in different locations!!
  • Omg!! I hadn't thought about it!

I have seen both ways, for sure. I think when it's at the church, it's usually more of a "sign in" kind of book where you just put your names down, and when it's at the reception, it's more of a "leave a cute / sweet / funny" kind of message for the B+G.

IDK, maybe I'm just imaging that lol.

  • Bridetobe - BTW, totally unrelated to this thread, but I would honestly be embarrassed to start a FIFTH thread today haha - I got my Timeline cards printed from VP today and they look so amazing! If you haven't order them yet, I definitely recommend getting them printed there. The front is very glossy and just looks very professional. Did you finish yours and order them?

Yes! I GOT MINE LAST WEEK! FROM VP! I did the oversized postcard like you suggested. I will PIP later when I get home (if/when I get home . . . )

They look so awesome. Thank you for the template! And they were much bigger than I anticipated. I'm trying to think of what I want to do - affix them to the OOT bag or just put them inside? I think it would be fun to put them on the front of the bag, maybe like tape them? What are you doing?

  • bmore - my vistaprint groupon expires in TWO DAYS i am freaking out because we haven't finished our timeline or brochure yet and wanted to use it for that stuff! absolutely no way we will have it done by then, so we will probably just use the groupon for the OOT guest brunch invitations that we plan to send next month. Glad to hear they look great though!!!
  • PS start as many threads as you like. I have definitely started more than 4 in a day before. hahaha
  • Yeah, I think I'll just drop them in the bag... but I guess it'll depend what else I get for the bags. Right now, I have pretty much zero clue what's going in them.

Butterfly, I get a new VP email about once a week with an offer for free postcards, so just let me know when you are ready to order and I can send you the email. You just pay shipping... I think it was something like $3 for 50 (and I did it twice just to make sure I had enough).

Ok this is stupid of me to ask then, but I am going to ask anyways....what is this postcard timeline? Who would you give it to?

  • It looks kind of like this:

I'm putting it in people's OOT guest bags so that they have a handy dandy thing that says where they need to be, at what time.

  • Here is my timeline (you can see I didn't stray far from the inspiration pic, lol):

  • Schatzi: I wouldn't exactly say that it's nice. Much more humorous than nice. It's massive and floppy and mostly just empty space, hahaha. I have no idea why I added it to our order, besides the fact that it is free.
  • Oh, I like the idea of a timeline!

  • Oh I want to do a timeline now too!

Back to the original question, I am doing it at the reception in the same area as the seating cards and card box and all that stuff.

  • I have no idea!  I hadnt thought about this much.  I think we will just have it at the reception most likely.

  • I am putting ours at the end of the board walk before the guests walk down the steps to the beach.  There is an area with a bench so I figure that would be the best place.
