Vegas Baby

Were going to Las Vegas for our honeymoon.  On monday.  Weve never been before, any ideas? Shows? Pool? Romantic things? Clubs?

Re: Vegas Baby

  • There is SO much to do in Vegas, I dont think you will have any trouble finding something fun :) I loved the club at Caesars (can't think of the name of it right now) and Tao is another great club. Cirque de Solei is an amazing show to see so I would definitely recommend it. Where are you staying?

  • There is so much to do in Vegas, you won't be disappointed. We always choose our hotel there based on their rooms and pool complex since you can visit any of the hotel's restaurants/casinos/entertainments. We stayed at MGM Grand during our first trip there and LOVED the lazy river in their pool complex and the 2nd trip there we stayed at The Mirage and were upgraded to a suite just for being FB fans. So I highly suggest "liking" whatever resort you choose on FB and commenting on their page to look for freebies/VIP passes, etc..

I highly suggest seeing a Cirque du Soleil show, we saw KA at MGM Grand but have heard amazing things about Love and O as well.

Romantic things.. you can do a gondola ride at the Venetian, have dinner in the restaurant that's in the Eiffel tower at the Paris resort, watch the fountains show at the Bellagio, etc..

Nightlife... Tao at the Venetian, Jet at the Mirage, LAX at the Luxor, Pure at Caesars, etc.. DH and I also liked going to one of the club like pools.. we went to Bare at the Mirage and rented a day bed for the day which was definitely worth it (albeit pricey). The cost of the day bed is how much food and drinks you're able to order. So if you pay $250 for the daybed or lounge chairs, you can order up to that much food and drinks while you're there.

I also suggest riding the rollercoaster at New York New York, going to the aquarium at Mandalay Bay, checking out Rum Jungle at Mandalay Bay, and checking out the Palms resort/casino. We ordered one of those all access passes for only $50 each before getting there and it granted us access to Ghost Bar, Playboy Club, and Moon which is a rooftop club on one of the towers that has a retractable roof so you're dancing under the stars...very cool!

  • We're going to Vegas again next month, there's definitely A LOT to do there.  If you've never been before, I recommend taking a day to walk the strip (bring comfy shoes) and kind of check out all the different hotels and stuff.

For shows, I LOVED Phantom of the Opera, it was awesome.  This time, I think we are planning to check out one of the Cirque shows.  I don't think FI and I are planning on doing any clubs this time around, but we are going to check out Minus 5 (which is an ice bar in Mandalay Bay - I think they have one in Monte Carlo now too).  I went with some friends a couple years ago and it was really cool (pun intended).

  • As far as shows, we saw Cirque du Soleil LOVE and absolutely loved it! It's at the Mirage. Tickets are pricey, but worth it IMO. Also ask at your hotel for coupon books. We got one that had buy 1, get 1 free tickets for the wax museum and also a celebrity impersonator show at the Stratosphere that was a lot of fun.

If you've never been, you could spend days just sightseeing and going to all the hotels and casinos. The Venetian is really cool--one of my faves. The gondola ride is common, but romantic. I also really liked Paris. I've heard the restaurant at the top is wonderful. If you like shopping, Fashion Show Mall has a lot of good stores.

It will also be HOT there (I have gone in June twice. Temps in the 110's). So lots of pool time will be necessary!

We got engaged there in February! We wanted to see a Cirque show but didn't plan ahead and then couldn't get tickets. We went to see Crazy Horse at the MGM Grand. It is a topless show, but it is very artsy, not trashy. I thought it was really cool and almost retro. We did not like the Lion King (and usually I love musicals).

We both love karaoke and went to Ellis Island Casino, which has it every night. It is more of a divey local place.... it's the casino attached to the Super 8 if that gives you any indication. However, we had a great time and met lots of interesting people there.

On the other end of the spectrum, I emailed the Tryst nightclub in advance to get on their guestlist, we got all dolled up, and we walked right in past a long line of beautiful people for a night out. That was a fun experience too.

  • My fiance and I have been there a bunch of times

Cirque de Solei Zumanity was really great... it was definitely a sensual show but great to go with your new husband too :)

Cirque de solei Ka was also really great... this show had all the crazy acrobatics and a crazy stage that went completely vertical during one of the scenes! incredible!!

David Copperfield... we're going to see this one in September!! Should be pretty great!!!

Studio 54 (at MGM) was a great dancing club... if you walk by most clubs during the day, they'll have promoters out for the clubs... you can give them your name and they'll tell you when ladies get in for free and your husband will get the discounted rate... also most clubs give ladies free drinks for an hr or so if you do this... Studio 54 does free smirnoff vodka drinks for the ladies for the hour... I got in free and my fiance only paid like 10 bucks or something like that... def something to do if you plan on clubbing!!

Burger Bar (at mandalay bay place) is INCREDIBLE for all sorts of AMAZING burgers (kobe, buffalo, angus, etc) and fries (also have sweet potato fries, zucchini fries, etc) AND they have alcoholic milkshakes... def a must!! :)

Lush (at mandalay bay place) -- bath bombs and bubble bars... if you're planning a romantic bath or something to that affect... Lush has some great supplies!!!

Venetian Gondola Ride -- Def romantic

Paris Tower Ride -- Awesome view of the strip at night!!!! :)

    Have Fun!!!

  • I went there on a work trip in January.  So much to see and do you definitely do not need to plan anything just start walking the strip!  If you want to see an amazing, funny and sexy show go to New York New York and see the Cirque show Zumanity...definitely worth it!  The Eifel Tower Restaurant at Paris is amazing...the best chicken I have ever had and the scalloped potatoes...to die for!  Have an amazing time!
