Honeymoon HELP!

My FH and I are trying to get a head start on deciding where to go on our honeymoon.  We know if we book soon (prob this fall) we can usually save money.  Our wedding date is June 1, 2013.  I have always wanted to go to some place like St. Lucia, somewhere tropic.  I looked at a resort for St. Lucia that is all inclusive (which we would prefer but not required) and it was outrageous.  We are also trying to be smart on spending because of buying a house! With all this being said, does anyone have any suggestions on places to go that wont cost a house downpayment lol.... Thanks in advance!

We couldn't afford anything similar to St Lucia, so we are going to Isla Mujeres, Mexico. It's an island off the coast of Cancun, so you get an isolated, beautiful resort, but at a fraction of the cost for both the resort AND the flights. We are staying at Palace.

If you were intrigued by the volcano or the Pitons in St. Lucia, maybe look into Costa Rica? I'm not sure what the prices are though. In general, Jamaica, Mexico and the Dominican Republic have the most affordable AIs.  We stayed at the RIU Ocho Rios two years ago and spent ~$1000 each for flight, hotel, food and drinks for about 8 days.  We were able to get a great deal on Expedia. Definitely look at TripAdvisor for reviews (take some with a grain of salt!) and Expedia for package deals.  We have booked the majority of our trips through Expedia and we always seem to find good rates. Of course, we always look at other travel websites to compare, but Expedia usually has the best deals. Sometimes you may do better if you book closer to the date rather than farther out, but it's very hard to tell!

I second the recommendation for Mexico.  DH and I went in February to Cancun and it was great.
