Eeeek! How bad is this?

I can completely mortified!
My FMIL provided me with a list of family and friends, only about 12 people to be added onto the wedding per my request.

Well I got the wrong name! FYI; FMIL had a stroke when FI was a child. Then went through throat cancer about 2-3 years ag and add in a very heavy accent. I went over the names and spelt via a phone call to get everything she wrote me correct.

So, what I was told and thought was a female name of Gerald (seriously going wtf to the name) It is actually Cheryl.

I sent invites out with a wrong name! Only found out today cause mom told me my MOH found out from shower invite response.....

I am mortified.

Re: Eeeek! How bad is this?

  • oh no...... that sucks. Wouldn't Fi not know this?

  • It's not your fault, don't stress! I'd maybe try to call the woman and apologize though and just explain the miscommunication. Since she's on FI's side she'll know that your FMIL can be hard to understand.

  • I don't think it was that bad..and if I were Cheryl, I'd find it humorous..but that's just me.

Give her a call and just explain the situation. :o)

  • I don't have their numbers. And FI doesn't really know much family and friends besides the immediate. He was a late in life baby. His closes sibling age wise is in his 40's. FI has neices and nephews as old at us.
  • Oh no!  Just try to explain the situation.  I am sure that she will understand, given everything that was involved in the miscommunication.  It is just a small thing, don't make it any bigger than it needs to be. :)

  • How about sending her a short letter explaining your mistake? I don't think this is a big deal :)

  • I don't think it is that big of a deal - just explain to her what happened, and perhaps a quick letter to apologize.

I have to be honest - I laughed a little at your post because this reminds me of the scene in My Big Fat Greek Wedding where the invitations have the wrong parent names on them - Harry instead of Harriest, I think is what it was. God, that movie is hilarious hahahaha
